Hi guys,
Last week I was driving around and my speedo just dropped from 80 to 0.it stopped counting k's etc but fuel, temp and rev guages all work.so im guessing that the speedo cables had it.just wondering whats the easiest way to get it out?
Cheers,
-Ian.

Hook it up backwards and your car will get newer and newer :D You can also kick yourself that Mitsubish still chose a mechanical speedo/odo instead of a electronic one.
Apart from that I cant help you much either :doubt:

Yeah I had to unscrew it from the GB when I pulled the engine out. I'm thinking that tempering with it might actually have lead to its damage. unsure.
What i'm looking for is how to get it out from inside the car for a full replacement.

sorry to hyjack your thread. But it's better then making another one.
Whenever i go from a standing start my speed-o doesn't start working until it hits around the 20km/h mark. Then it bounces slightly when im cruising along (slightly being around 2-3mm). Would it be to do with this same cable?

Always love when people post up rubbish and then state, i do not know :)
Unscrew from your trans, is safe to do so. Remove the inst cluster. Pull the cable towards you, remove the plastic clip and then pull further. It will need to be pushed through the firewall, and then pull the rest of the way.
When you fit the new one, ensure that you keep it as straight as poss, it should not have any sharp bends in it.
In so far as the other question goes. The speedo is at fault. It is the shaft that the needle sits on sticking, replace the speedo and you can wipe off a few k's while you are at it if you can find a lower milage one :)
