2003 KJ Verada AWD - 96,000km
Just got home tonight and noticed that none of my brake lights work (rear or centre), Checked fuse - ok (tried swapping with a spare as well).
Handbrake warning light doesn't come on either when handbrake is applied.
All other lights (& warning lights) work
Anyone had similar problems?

hmm thats odd... all i can think of is maybe a loose connection or something if its not a fuse... never heard of this before though... I'm sure some magna pro will come and tell u what to do in 3 easy steps tho... *waits for the magna pro*

check your stop light switch, it should be on the brake pedal up on the firewall. happens quite a bit on falcons and common*****s, replacement unit isnt too much around 30 bucks i think

thanks will do. Would a faulty switch affect the handbrake warning light as well? Or just a coincidence?
i would remove the fuse and stick a multimeter right in there, to make sure that power is getting that far. Usually the handbrake and taillights are fairly independant units.
Sounds like a write off to me mate.
I'm with magna00, next place I'd be looking after the fuse.
As for handbrake light, check the connections to the handbrake lever.

Thanks for the help. It was the brake switch - $26. Once replaced the hand brake warning light also worked correctly.
Easiest brake switch I've ever fitted - very simple.

It is the first thing to "go wrong" with the car - not bad after 81,000km in 3 years of ownership - a lot of it on very rough roads, mud, water, in the bush. + a non stop 4,200km drive down from Darwin recently.
A real testament to the way Mitsu built them.
