View Full Version : Do VRX flares make it seem lower?

Just wanting some advice on getting / not getting VRX flares...
I am planning to fit a VRX kit on My TJ AWD Sports and lower it front and back onto Lows.
Just wondering whether the flares make the car look lower (i.e. take up some of the gap between the top of the wheel arch and the tyre) - because I would rather not lower it any more than lows for sake of clearing driveways etc. - but I think despite lows there seems to be the Grand Canyon between the wheel and the arch at the front
Thanks!

They hang nearly an inch lower than the guard..
I put mine back on my car after wheels. they made the car look slammed.. both front and rear rims(not Tyres i mean rim) was under the guard.. Drove down my street and had to stop at the roundabout to pick buts up.. couldnt steer..:)

lol Hopefully 18 inch rims, lowered onto King Lows and the flares will be OK?!

An inch? Nah... We measured it the other day, 10-15mm tops on front and rear. The guards themselves are an inch wide though!

For sure. I've got King Lows and the VR-X flares.... the back wheels just sit inside the flare (although I do have a little bit of weight from my boot install). The front doesn't sit uber-low, but it's an acceptable height IMO. I've got pics in this thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58568) if you want to check them out.

Yeh it'll be 10-15mm tops, ralliart flares you get abit more, maybe a full inch, but i don't think they're too compatible with the vrx kit.
If you're not going stupidly low then flares are a good way to make the car look lower, go for it!

Thanks for all your answers - well flares it will be :)
Red Valdez your car looks great with that simple lowering!
Any opinions on whether the KYB shocks much better than the stock springs (for road use)? Just wondering should I leave my stockies or change them at the same time (my car has done 70,000km)?

i should be getting some flares soon as the kit will be coming at a later stage. i will be getting GE flares, and i will be putting them on without a kit, shouldnt look to bad in my opinion, although would look 10X better with a kit.
