This thread is going to be the documentation of my interior changeover with step by step guide on how to convert to power windows, remove and replace Dashboard and change floor carpet.

Title: Part One; Power Windows Conversion

What: Power Windows Conversion with Black to blue door trim change-over. This article assumes that you have a donor DOOR. If you have only a regulator and motor, please proceed to Step 5.

You'll need: Thin Flat head screwdriver
Phillips Head Screwdriver (Medium)
Power Window Regulator + Motor
Door Trim
10mm socket
Wire Strippers
Long Metal rod/Wire Passer device
Charged Car battery.

Difficulty: Mechanical and Electrical knowledge required. (Reasonable)

ETA: Approx 1 week on and off or 2-3 days Full. (one person)

NOTICES:
1) Ensure that the window regulators are in the complete "open" position before removing door from vehicle. This will help with step two.

2) Be sure to take great caution when working with glass as it may shatter, causing severe injury.

Instructions:

REAR DOORS:

1) Remove all retaining screws in donor door trim, including those towards the rear on the edge of the trim. Remove door trin by inserting a flat head screwdriver into the gap between the door trim and the door itself towards the bottom of the door, levering slightly. Clips should pop off with a slight amount of force. To remove the trim from the door completely, grab both sides and lift towards the top of the door, giving one side more force to ensure that it is lifted first. If both sides are lifted at once, trim will become stuck.

2) Unscrew window from window regulator and motor assembly by removing the two screws found on the bottom of the window glass and let it SLOWLY come to rest on the door itself, careful not to damage glass. No Picture Available.

3) Locate 7 bolts (10mm/medium screwdriver) that secure window regulator and motor to door frame (Refer to image below for bolt locations). Remove these bolts whilst holding the regulator and motor through the inside of the door, in case of damage to window glass.

4) Carefully remove the motor and regulator via the largest space in the door on the bottom left. Take caution not to damage window glass.

5) Inspect motor and regulator assembly for any cable damage or any blockages that may prevent it from working in future.

6) Cut or remove the grey plastic wire holders connected to the door, there are eight. Using a flat blade screwdriver, carefully pry the rubber grommet (on door), that contains the wiring loom for the power windows, puddle light and Central locking mechanism, from the door and pull the rubber tubing with grommet (to body) and loom connections into the door and out of a space provided. Do not neglect to remove the bracket for where the arm-rest screws in (under window switch) as this differs for non-power windows models.

7) Inspect loom and connections for any corrosion, cuts or frays in wires and renew or fix as applicable.

8) Going to the car now, remove the door trim as previously described and remove protective plastic (if applicable)

9) Unscrew window glass and manual regulator and winder assembly as previously described in step 2 and 3. Remove regulator and winder in same manner as before, being careful not to damage glass. Also, remove current loom, as the new loom will contain the central locking module loom. (This is accessible by removing the B-Pillar interior cover. Remove this by sliding slightly to the rear of the vehicle whilst lifting the same side. This should release the cover from its place and it should come loose by repeating this action in the opposite way)

10) Carefully Insert wiring loom through INSIDE of door first. That is, insert hard grommet and wiring connections through the door first. The door grommet is most easily replaced by pushing it through from the inside of the door. Use the long metal rod or wire passer to pass any wires for a previous installation (speakers, remote central locking units, lights). Once any wires have been passed, clip the hard plastic grommet into the car body

11) Insert the Regulator and motor assembly into the door with caution in regards to the glass. Screw window into regulator mechanism and secure motor and regulator using the seven 10mm bolts described previously and connect the shortest two-pin clip into the motor. Replace old triangle shaped bracket with new L shaped bracket from donor door. By now, it should look something like this:

12) Next step is to replace the door trim , making sure that the central locking module is connected to the loom and main power supply via the interior connection. Be sure to connect the switch to its place on the loom (medium length three pin connector) . Place the door trim on the metal sill of the door and press downward, clipping the top of the trim into place. this may take a few tries. Give the trim a few gentle knocks along the bottom to engage the clips and proceed to screw the door trim in place.

13) Put the window up (in case of rain) by stripping the connector wires and using an old car battery for a power source. The positive power to the window is a solid blue cable, with the other two being grounds. Hold both onto the battery for up and down movement.

FRONT DOORS

You'll need: 12mm Socket and ratchet
Medium Size Phillips Head Screwdriver
Difficulty: Minimal experience required

ETA: Should only take one day

You'll need: Unsure as of yet.
Difficulty: Medium Experience Required. Preferrably done with Two people.

Umm... Didn't Rogue_Streak already do a power window conversion thread? Or are you taking photos to go with it :confused:

Btw... Power window conversion will take 1 day tops with two people working on it.

Yeah it was a full day, we finished at like 7pm (summer, so it was still reasonably bright outside)

Btw... Power window conversion will take 1 day tops with two people working on it.

Well yes, Rogue_Streak did do a DIY, butI will be taking pictures with it and documenting clearly, whereas I found the Rogue_streak thread to be very jumpy- as in it wasnt flowing and the instructions were scattered around the entire thread.

Yeah fair enough, just make sure you include the technical aspect of the conversion too, wiring diagrams and such. Pictures are useless without a 2D wiring diagram.

Well it worked well enough for me to convert all 4 of my windows!

And this is the reason why Rogue_Streak will be mentioned as a reference in my DIY- his thread helped me with the wiring and basic understanding of how to do it, but I've got this problem where If I sift through something long enough i'll lose interest and forget about it. something called "short attention span" aparently. lol.

Ah yeah.
When i did my conversion I had a whole schematic on a piece of paper with what motor what what color wires, what color wires i had, and yeah what hooked up to what..
Pictures would be sick though go nuts:D
