Im thinking about selling my 04 TL ES manual with 120,000 kms, and I was wondering whats a reasonable price to ask.

10-11k i'd say.. if all books done, and in general good order.. the only thing really is going for it is that it's manual..

I thought autos were more expensive.... Does the resale value change things or something?

Yeah, and a fair few kms for an 04. Still as has been mentioned, the manual should get you a bit more than an equivalent auto.
Good luck with it though mate, hope you get what you need for it.

They're actually going for it more than against it. The TL shape now makes it look like a newer car than it really is, and it fits in with other new cars now, so its not looked at so much as a bad design anymore.
As for fuel prices, well what big V6 sedan gets better economy than a manual Magna? If you need a big car and good economy, can't go past the Magna's really.
I'm saying $10k-ish

I was offered 10,500 as a trade on a brand new lancer. But no-one here is keen on buying mine. Other than that I was offered 8,500 trade on any car under $18,000, and 9,500 on any car over 18k.

What other cars does it fit in with?

Youre talking from the point of view that the end buyer knows the fuel usage and economy of a magna.. Im pretty sure we are in the minority of users that know anything about the magna..
Example: Average Joe and Jan who are a young couple with a child on the way wouldnt know all that much about magna's except for the fact that the makers of the vehicle "went out of business".. Not exactly a car you would want to buy in terms of getting parts etc..
I of course know that Mitsu has to keep parts for the next 5 years, but average joe wouldnt know that.
The car only appeals to a 2% demographic (if that). In that 2% there is probably 3000+ of these cars being sold privately or sitting in car yards with "Crazy Deals are Crazies" slapped across the front windscreen.
Edit: For your viewing pleasure.
Carsales Dealer results (http://carsales.com.au/used-cars/MITSUBISHI/MAGNA/dealer-results.aspx?N=4294964597%200%204294964374%2042949 33261%204294928893%204294926240%204294928357%20429 4926368%204294930215%201216&State=All%20States&distance=25&Make=MITSUBISHI&Model=MAGNA&Ns=pCar_Price_Decimal%7C0%7C%7CpCar_StatusSort_Int 32%7C1&state_id=0&sort_type=3)
Dont forget the markup these cars have on them. So take off anywhere from 1k - 2k and you now have ranges from 6k - 8k

Bain, why are all of your posts here so negative and harsh, everytime i see you post, your always so mean, judgmental and opinionated
I'm not complaining, it's a good read. You just come off as a very angry person!
But we know you're a nice person inside Milton, and you just need a hug
((hug))
Fits in well when its parked next to a new Commodore or Falcon, Camry, Aurion, etc. Looks years younger than equivalent models in the above cars.
I take your point on the second though, you'd need to do some research before you realised the differences. That said, your a damn fool if you spend that much money on a car without researching into it first.
As for your car sales results, Aus wide according to your search there is 3 TL ES Manuals, the cheapest of which is $8650 with 180k's on the odo, the following two are $12,500 and $14,990 with 78k's and 72k's respectively. Knock off your $1-2k margin for being a dealership and its not unfair at all to expect ~$10k for this TL Es.
Edit: In your defense there is a is a 2003 TL ES Manual with 76k on the clock being sold privately at a list price of $8700, but that's not to say its in the same condition (presuming this one's a goodin) and it is a year older but has lower k's. Maybe $8-9k would be reasonable to ask, I'd list it for $9.5-10k first up though. Doesn't hurt to be optimistic :P

Shh G.
I get my hugs from my anger management councillor.
I generally only reply to posts where i think it would be of benefit, negative or not.. Most of the time its to question ones opinion/knowledge of whatever it is they are replying to.
Everyone knows im nice, i just dont tolerate stupid people. :)
Anyhow, its rare these days to actually have a debate with someone who doesnt resort to flaming.. So thanks to Lugo for sharing your opinions in an appropriate manner.

The sales of the other respective cars would tell you differently.

Again this is an assumption that those looking for one of these cars is after a manual. If they are specifically after a manual it reduces the amount of buyers considerably. I think there was a figure floating around of about 15% of all of the TL shape magnas were manual. That shows there was never a demand for them.

Correct, doesnt hurt to be optimistic. But then again, its no good getting your hopes up knowing that its a luck and a prayer that someone out there wants your car..
The glass is half empfull
If it sells,it sells were only selling it cause we bought a 8 seater for the missis and I get the magna if it dosent sell. Im thinking track car.

There is a reason they are 'rare'. It's because the demographic targeted for this type of car wants an automatic.
I think it will hamper the efforts to sell it rather than enhance.

Camry's a boring drive (doesn't come in a V6 either if you get a newer one), and the Aurion doesn't come in manual.

Wanna know how the Aurion drives? Have a look at this video clip that was taken at Heathcote (VIC) a few weeks back.

The Aurion is a nice looking car, pitty it didn't come in manual, or I would have considered buying one instead of the TL.
