OK well my automatic choke is pretty much F-ed.. its either stuck open or closed. idling high or very low. how would i go about replacing it. do u have to replace the whole carby or what? P.s not a huge mechanical man

The some happen to my dads 1991 tp magna.
I went to the wreckers and got a carby for it i put it on and it runs like new

I think I'm having similar problems with mine, will be interested in finding out how to fix it haha... although mine is the EFI model :S

you should remove the carby to fix this
drain the coolant to below the head
because water runs through the carby
you can use the adjustment screw
to make the carby butterfly stay open all the way
have to buy a new dash pot if that has broken
or make sure the water coolant parts of the carby are no corroded
or as above go to a wrecker and fit a s/hand carby

thanks apparently that wasnt the problem, the mixture screw came unscrewed a bit so we had to retune them
