From what I've been told, you can't remove the factory immobiliser because its wired into the ECU. Something along those lines. Won't be an issue unless your alarm has remote start. The factory immobiliser and aftermarket one won't cause problems in any other situation.

In the case of remote start the only way to really overcome the contradiction you'll have is to fit the chip from a keyhead inside the ignition barrel of the car, so the factory immobiliser doesn't engage, which means you rely entirely on the aftermarket one (Not an issue there). If you don't, when you try to remote start the aftermarket immobiliser will disengage but the factory will remain engaged, which means the car won't start. If you don't want remote start you don't need to fiddle with this, only if you want remote start.

But yeah a standard aftermarket alarm will work fine, the factory one can still be there if you want, just won't be used.

Yes, the alarm has a remote start. So what is this chip you've mentioned?

i thought when a full aftermarket alarm is install

Yes, the alarm has a remote start. So what is this chip you've mentioned?
The factory immobiliser is disarmed by a small chip which is integrated into the head of the key's for the car. It reads the chip when its within close range of the ignition and disarms the immobiliser. If it can't find the chip, you don't go anywhere, simply put.

On most cars yes, but if you were to do this in a 3rd gen that would involve throwing out the ECU, lets see how far you get without that :P

Correct, shehan has the chip from one of his keys mounted inside the dash close to the ignition, so when the car tries to start it reads the the chip which is within range, disarms the factory immobiliser and the car starts. It doesn't present a security issue as such though, as the aftermarket immobiliser will still prevent the car from being started by thieves, just stops the factory immobiliser from functioning more or less, pretty much the same effect as removing it in most other cars.

YAY for remote start, best thing ever
girls love it, i love it, its good to warm engine up and on those cold days to have the car heater on when the car starts, its the best.

especially if you leave your sound system loud wen you turn off your car, and then remote start it and your car is blarring music:D

lol, but yea aftermarket alarms dont interfere too much if at all with the stock alarm

So this means I may need extra key and hide it somewhere on close range to the key barrel?

Another question, to those lives in Sydney, is there any good shop who can install this alarm w/ remote start? I called 4 Strathfield Radios stores and all of them says they don't want to install any alarm that has remote start.

Should I go to a car electrician to do the install? I have other items to be installed which involves connecting on the electrical wiring.
