hey guys just been goin through my wiring diagrams (both verada and diamante) it lists a photo/sunlight sensor thats supposed to be fitted in the air grills on top of the dash, now theyre illustrated as clear as day but for some reason my kl doesnt have this?/ can anyone who may know a bit more shed some light on this maybe magnabydesign or anyone who worked on the aircon side of things for kl/kw??? anyones else with a kl/w missing this sensor?

is that the sensor in the top/middle dash near the windscreen, should be a 1cmby1cm square.

what does it do...
apart from sense sunlight.

OST maybe? (= Out Side Temp.)

It senses how much sun light there is outside and in conjunction with the interior sensor,
those matrix of little holes in the centre console determine when to cut in/cut out the A/C.
The 2nd gens have a distinct 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch shiny black square. My KW one is a
slightly duller black rectangle of 15mmx20mm right near the base of the window in the
centre of the dash area. You can see it from the outside.

ahhh ok, i think my mum has one, but she has a ford, and it looks distinctly like a light bulb! lol well i tiny one. right in the middle of the dash, near the windscreen.

All it is is a light sensing diode sitting underneath a plastic shield.

yup exactly what mine is.well i take it,it has one then!!! just looks kinda fake i sorta thought there wasnt one there thanks guys most f the "other makes" are different thats where i was getting confused
OST maybe? (= Out Side Temp.)
FYI, outside temp thermostat is mounted up just behind the front bar, outside the car :P
The Light Sensor just helps the climate control determine auto fan speed to keep the interior at a set temp.
