Well it started about 3 weeks ago... what i'm getting is my Battery light flashing at me when under full throttle... and sometimes when just cruisin.
the battery is about 2 yrs old maintenance free Supercharge 600cca 36 series...showing on the indicator a bright green/ OK symbol
now it doesnt matter if my sounds are on or off and it started happening before i fitted the last amp the fusion fe300d and sub...
its worse when i have my headlights on, but it may just be the fact its more noticable at night when its dark.(seeing the battery light light up)
And it could also be the fact im drawing more current from the lights making it worse.
It also stopped for about a week and just started it again... i fiddled with the battery terminals to no effect...
Never had a problem starting, but when i do see the battery light i can feel it gets sluggish and i loose a little power and smoothness so its affecting the ECU through low voltage
Now would this all indicate that my Alternator is on its way out? and if so what size alternators are there? i currently have an executive model with power nothing(mirrors only)
i would like to get a larger Amperage, whats available? And prices?
Anybody have an idea on what it could be if not the Altn8r?

Loose Alternator Belt? As for Alternator... get a Verada one

sounds to me like the alternator is dieing, seems to have all the same symptoms.
If this is the case, eventually the alternator will stop charging the battery and there is a good chance your batter will run out of power mid-drive
get it checked out, you can pick up a re furbished alternator for about $120 ish
They are not to hard/expensive to install

The install is no problem... the belt maybe slipping although i cant hear it... will have a look at the tension tomorrow. But the belt should be in good condition oly been on for about 40thousand k's. never been tensioned so...
Its the small things that you dont think of eh... Thanks for the quick respone:D

Are you suggesting theres a difference with the Verada alternator?

You might also want to try a secondhand voltage regulator; cheaper than a new one, and if it's the problem, you haven't put in an alternator that you don't need.
5spdvl - Verada alternators had a higher amp output, to run all the extra electrical gear.

although i also believe its the alternator causing your dramas, a 2year old battery is not young. I worked with Century Batteries for a couple years and i can tell you now, maintenance free is a crock of ****, if its a lead/acid battery (wet battery) it must vent the gas byproduct thus reducing the level of electrolyte covering the cells.
Maintenance free battery's are designed to last as long as the warrenty covers, and in our hot summers, still require topping up with distilled water (at worst) since the evapouration rate is higher.
The only true maintenace free battery is a drycell, but they can be hit and miss affair when it comes to longevity.
this is all just a heads up, but in case people never noticed, Century (manufacturer of most brands in AUS) dropped their 3year warrenty range and now only produce 2year

Ok well lucky i got the 36 month warranty eh haha looks like it might be going back!
will put a voltmeter on it it and see what it says...

']Of course.
Being a verada one its much more classier and if you inform people about it they will think higher of you because the verada is a car just for the rich and famous.
Verada - Magna - Same engine bits dude
or ppl can be even more of a tool and think their car is a diamante import :P

like i said i doubts its the battery itself, more likely the regulator.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but the difference would be between the 4cyl Bosch 70A alternator on the radiator side (same alternator diff pully as the fords) and the 6cyl 6g72 engine with alternator on the firewall side of the engine which is a mitsubishi built alternator isn't it? Verada's 6cyl majority of magnas 4cyl?

Apparently, the Verada Alternator has a higher output than the Magna one. Reason being all the extra electrical stuff the Verada is equipped with. Just looked in the manual, there are 2 types of Alternators, 85amp & 90 amp. The 85 amp is fitted to the Magna the 90 amp is fitted to Verada

I thought it was alot more that 5 amps... i thought it was like 70amps magna and 90amps verada?

It's the altenator, providing you have checked the charge on the battery and its fine still.
I had the exact same problem, the light would come on when driving randomly and would go away, wasnt on perm. Make sure all the connections are fine first - I had the exact same symptons, headlights dimming etc
I just replaced with a re-conditioned one and has been fine for a long time.

Battery does not cause the light to come on, lack of charge from the Alt does.
You can slip in a new reg but this will not fix issues with the armature or bad bearings which will sooner or later also fail
Reco or a reasonable looking one from wrecker is the go, quite often you will find one that is not all that old on the wrecks

I know it might not make a difference but the cars done 66 thousand k's... so its prolly not as won on the internals as you might think... so could it just be the reg?
being that the bearings and armature will last another 100thousand k's? (presuming they have a milage life)
