the best i got out of my old 2g was 600 k's , the fuel light was on when i filled up and that was highway driving. around town it used to be crap

From my reading of the various threads, I'd say the two would be similar, though a low-K one might be a bit better. I reckon the 2nd gen V6 in a manual is decent as far as economy goes, I generally get between the 10 and 12 litres per 100k's mark (8.5-10 k's per litre). 45litres (my usual fill) will usually get me between 380 and 450k's, tending towards the latter. Best would be about 550 off that.

TS 3000cc V6 Manual --> Driving lightly (expensive petrol prices) with majority 85-95km/h on highways

I can push up to 635km per tank....but that's running it pretty empty!

At this point I can put in about 53-54 litres

I'm regularly using less than ten litres per 100 ks in my v6 manual driving through Brisbane traffic every day. Phenomenal economy for a 3litre motor. The trick is to use fifth as much as possible. I use mine from around 60 kph.

thought that would make the car strain harder and chew up fuel?? but yeah i got a 4 cyl and fuel economy is no where near as good as the 6 i reckon. mind u it does have a turbo buttt saying that if i baby her around still get probs about 500km out of the tank

city driving and short highway bursts i get 10l/100km's. It pushes to about 11.5l with peak hour traffic bursts.

Thats a DOHC btw. I got similar milage from my SOHC.

the mileage you get from a car depends on the age, kilometers, condition of the car. if the engine/gearbox is a bit run down and not running efficiently you will get poor results.

are you looking at a manual or auto?

its a manual,ts executive and so far it gots me around 500 a tank....shaping up to be real economical it seems... after all its only done 80 000kms..
Problem is i just discovered oil underneath the car not dripping on the floor, but just underneath it on left hand front. whatever that means.

Hey when you say left hand front, Do you mean Engine side or Transmission side?

the economy in mine is pretty poor , i get like 380-400kms out of a tank but thats cos i a) have a heavy foot and b) cos i have a dodgy fuel cap that leaks petrol so i am loosing petrol out there  still, its better than most cars in its class for some reason.

That sucks, as my fifth is blown.
