The biggest problem with mp3 head units is having to go through your mp3 collelection and put proper id3 tags on every song so you get to see the fancy scrolly song name when it's playing.
It's a pain in the arse to do when burning off a new cd for the car and that's only 700MB.. with a whole HDD to fill it's going to suck!

thats why u tag them properly be4 u store them. mine get put in an unsorted folder then get tagged and renamed and put in album folders, then that folder is put in a full albums folder.
I'm pretty anal about my mp3s being tagged and named properly.

yeah same here... all my cd's have been encoded into MP3's and sorted into artist names folders.... when theres over 5-6GB of em it takes quite a while!!

5-6GB that's be easy to manage... try 25-30GB.
That's lots of fun. it too hard to decide what to listen to.

Time is the key though. A friend of mine left to go down south so before he went I bought a new 80GB drive and made a mirror of his disk.. maybe around 40GB of mp3s on that, and I still haven't had time to even look at what is there.. plus all the other crap I've picked up from LANs and the like.
It's a tedious job unless you can rename whole albums at a time.

I run linux on my home pc so I'm guessing that software won't help me much ;) but there's some nice stuff for linux too, like Cantus, that will do CDDB lookups to tag/rename albums at a time.
