Hiya,

Could someone tell me what automatic transmission fluid I should be using in my 1992 Mitsubishi Magna TR Executive sedan?

I tried going to BP and Caltex but they didn't have the sort I think I need.

Is there any other brands I can buy which will do a good job without ruining the automatic transmission?

Thanks

Adrian.

PS: I am in Perth.

you can use CASTROL TQM-ST or genuine mitsu ones, castrol ones around 80ish for two bottles, not sure about mitsu...

Isnt it that Dextron III stuff you get in the red bottle? Castrol I think makes it. Anywho anything Dextron III compliant I think.

For god sakes when it comes to magna's Auto's, ALLWAYS use genuine mitsu gearbox oil stated in your manual. This is really important in TE on models, you'd be suprised the difference it makes...

Then you will be buying some over rated new trans mate

There are varients around you can run but take it from us who know, you have 3 different choices, mitsu, mitsu or perhaps you could try mitsu, it is not all that expensive compared to other breeds either.

Mitsu was actually the cheapest out of all 3 - Shell, Castrol, Mitsu. I used Castrol TQM-ST and found there was less flaring. My contact at spare parts explains it's due to the Mitsu diamond fluid being an SP3 which is less viscous and not really that good for the older gearboxes.
