So this evening, i turned my lights on on the way home from work and noticed the lights behind my heater controls weren't working. Recently my 'D' light on the dash died too but i'm not too worried about that...

Anyway, i did a quick search but nothing turned up...is this more likely to be a fuse or the globe itself? I've never tinkered with fuses before and i'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this kind of stuff...

For those with a second gen playing at home, The lights on the hazard and rear demister buttons below are still on, just the heater control light(s?) has gone. I just wanna ascertain whether its something i can quickly fix on my day off with a fuse or if i need an auto electrician to go have a play in my dash.

Sounds like globes but I would check the fuses to be sure.
Just make sure there is no power before checking.
ie. leave the keys out of the ignition.
With the fuse you'll know if its blown when you look at it the metal filament will be melted with a gap between it.

There's only one light in there (you have manual, not climate control, correct?), so wouldn't be inconceivable that it has blown.
Take off the surround as per doing the stereo etc, undo the four bolts, pull the control box down as far as you can (won't go very far at all), pop some fingers over the top, and in the middle you'll feel the bulb holder, get a grip, twist and pull out. Very much fingertip stuff.
Installation is reverse.

If you've taken off your centre console a few times, this shouldn't take more than 5-10mins.
