Hello

Thought my thrust bearing was shot but it appears that was not the case.

Click click sound similar to cv's but only from 20k's onwards and gets faster and faster. Seems to be coming from the drivers front wheel bearing? Noise goes quiet (but found out doesn't completely stop) with the clutch in and low loads.

No extra noises with the wheel turned and at full lock still no noises at the low speed.

How would i diagnose this problem.

Thanks for help.

Has someone has some personal experience with determining where their hub bearings are rooted. Or if this could CV's, the lack of increase of clicking with turning ie cv's rotations increasing turns me off that.

thanks.

Worn hub bearings produce more of a groaning sound with increasing frequency with speed
and at all speeds.

Jack the front right up and see if there is any freeplay (worn bearings and driveshaft). It
could also be the ABS sensor on the hub. Also with CVs, its not necessary for the car to
be turning for worn ones to make sounds. Depends which bit is worn and how much.

Take it to a frontend specialist to have a look if you can't find anything obvious.

Thanks. It could definately be the CV's multiple boots have gone over the years just didnt sound as normal as other rooted cv's i've heard.

No ABS on mine.

I'll jack her up and see if there's much freeplay otherwise might change the cv joints. I really hate getting that grease into cuts on my hands. Oh well.
