Howdy all got a few questions to ask of those in the know.

1. Are the lights in this bar fog lights or driving lights? Is there a difference between the two?

2. What size is the globe is in this bar?

3. I'm aware of how to adjust the direction of these lights, but does anyone have a beam pattern map or the like so I know where to adjust them to once they've been installed?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies, but as I've never had these sort of lights and have never driven with a set I don't know where they're sipposed to point. Any ideas?

At the ground is my best bet.
Should be one or two screws holding the foggy AND The insert in (They clip together to make one piece)
Then its like a headlight at the back forgot how it works, easy to do though not rocket science

To remove the entire foggy from a Series 1, unscrew the 2 small screws in the grille, which can be found in between the "slats" on the side closest to the license plate. Then pull the grille out diagonally in the direction of the license plate. Now you'll see a screw or bolt, remove that and pull and slide the fog light out the same way.

To remove just the globe, you'll see two "fins" on the back of the light. Just turn it which will release the cover, then it's just a matter of lifting the old globe out, putting a new one in and closing it up.

I find it's easier to take the entire fog light out and change the globe than to replace it with the light fitted, probably quicker as well since you don't need to spend the time fiddling around behind the bumper.

Really is quite simple, a few minutes of looking at it and you'll work it out.

My personal preference is to have a long beam instead of short, so, I would point them slightly upwards and aim them very far outwards to light up the road on the sides, particularly the left foglight I would point further to the left so that it lights up the gutter.

Some people will tell you to point it at the groun 1-2 meters from your viewpoint, but I'd probably aim it slightly further up than that, as it's too late to do anything by then anyway (in the case of not seeing something and hitting it)

i have mine aimed bout 2-3 metres infront of the car cosi drive through for alot and when its thick i find the best lighting is using the lights and turning the normal headlights off, so im still lit front and back so ppl can see me and i can see the furthest distance ahead without lighting up too much of the fog and being unable to see. i always thought thats what they are designed for...

Remember to use them only when needed, cops are starting to enforce the law a bit more strictly now.

Cheers for the caution but I reckon that if I align them correctly they'll be less of a nuisance a less likely to cause me any troubles.

foglights+headlights together = trouble, especially when its dark.. but foglights+parkinglights are ok in daylight, thats the rules in my country but the cops dont care so much i think, i have never been stopped

Dad has a VE with fog lights on constantly aswell as the liberty and lancer always have foggies. No-1's been pulled over yet...and I live near dandenong. lol.

According to VicRoads there is no law stipulating that you cannot use them at night. The only laws in place according to VicRoads are you must have your low beams on at night, regardless of conditions, which means foggies on low beams off at night is illegal, and fog lights may supplement low beams in hazardous road conditions during the day.

Something to note is stickly speaking, if you don't have your low beams on OR fog lights, or both during conditions such as rain, your breaking the law, even in broad daylight. There is nothing to say however you can't use fog lights at night in clear conditions. Only news articles have told us otherwise, and would you believe VicRoads or the newspaper first?

Thanks heaps for that Lugo, I've been curious about what the actual law was with foggies and you've just cleared it up for everyone in Vic.

Cheers.

Got a new question for everyone. I've put my new bar on and have tried to put the number plate on but the gap in the bar is narrower than my number plate. What sort of number plates does everyone have on their bar?

perry

just bend the plate a bit , this is what i did with mine

or do it prooperlly...

get a longish bolt and 4 nuts... put the bot through and 2 nuts, use them as spacers toi put the numberplates out a bit from the body, you should probabaly use loctite as well :)

this is sort of a pic

| is the body

|| is the nuts

Cheers. I had thought of getting some slimline plates but they're not any narrower than the originals. I'll give this idea a go.

NORBY

yeah, basically you just sit the plate outside the area its meant to go in :) or just use the methods others have and screw it to the bit just above

That's pretty much what I did, worked well.

I could have sworn I left the number plate bolts on that front bar mate.. Hmm...

Yeah, and I couldn't figure out why they were so long until Liverpool mentioned it. About to head out and give it a go now.

^ The best solution.

I bent the plate to fit it into my Diamante bar, and looking at it now i'm not exactly pleased with the result. Better to do it right the first time and save forking out for new plates later on, imho.

Not sure on the amount of room you have but could you "trim" the edges of the plate a little without cutting into the lettering and make it fit?

That works also, What i did was what Josh93' TR did;
Just bolt it above the number plate, theres a small lip of plastic there, just screw it in there and your number plate stays the same, no cutting, and it hides all the bits of the ugly middle, just check out Josh's car and you'll see what i mean

Got one or two other small things to add to the car before I put it in the member's section but I'll see if I can get one up on here. If it's not up by Friday night you'll probably have to wait until it's thrown in the member's section.

Looking good, the colour contrast between grey and white is awesome (plus the grill matches the ones in the Diamante bar). Very nice.

I KNEW IT!!! I knew you'd say both of those but I like it the way it is. As mentioned above the KR grille matches the front bar grille and I love how much the foggies stand out on the black. I'm pretty stoked with how it came out.

The car has been lowered but it's just on lows, but the angled view with the wheel slightly turned out doesn't really show it.

I disagree about the colour coding, i reckon it looks schimick how it is.
I need a diamante front bar, if anyone reading has found one at a wreckers in the past could you please pass their contact details on to me, or if you know of any wreckers that have one/ or might be able to help me out in finding one of these bars please tell me.
Someone reversed into the drivers side corner of mine the other day so im gonna need a new bar when i book it in for insurance, and i wanna give them a decent bar to spray for me.
My car is cursed, been reversed into twice this year and been vandalised once.
