Going to convert to a Weber...

I'll use the 32/36 D?EV kit...
Most are going the 'G' & not the 'F' (DGEV not DFEV)... is this due to layout/orientation?
or some clearance options?

I've also been through the conversion threads a few times & cant get "accurate" jetting info for the 32/36... the most conclusive is for the 34ADM's (Terror).

Should i go the DGEV & not the DFEV?
What jetting should i get installed?

When i get the stuff i'll do a full guide & pics....

if you guys are talking about webbers on the astron motors, your best bet is to get the carbys off the old XF and earlier ford falcons with the 250 cross-flow motors.

a good friend of mine used to be right into his sigmas and this was the best bang for buck mod he ever came across because they run webbers standard and are almost perfect jetting for the astron 2.6. if you can manage to find a cortina then get the carby of it rather than a falcon as they are slightly better again due to the adjustable primary jets.

alrighty... here's the info i was after...

"I would use the 32/36 DGEV kit. it is a Better carb than the DFEV and you can easily make either one work. There is a HP and driveabilty advantage to the DGEV over the DFEV"

So i'll go the DGEV kit...
Pricing:
kit with:
- the Carb (brand NEW, not reco'd)
- Adapter plate
- Cable linkage bracket that will work on any car equipped with a cable already
- Air Filter assembly.

For: $355 + $89 Shipping
Total: $444US

$461 AU...

I'll order tomorrow!

There's nothing in Oz near that price, especially not new... most reco'd kits are more expensive!
I cant source any webers at a decent price & would rather go new as i got very little knowledge on Carbs & dont want something thats near its end of life & have to be rebuildt etc....

Reading the carby threads...
XF's used the 34ADM & there's a lot of info about the jetting & sizing here:

The cortina's ran the 32/36 DGV which is what i'm getting...
Stock Mikuni is 32/35 i believe, so the 32/36 is a good match.

Thebest i can get the carb for $250 US ($260AU) - Dont forget its a brand new carbie!
If you want one let me know & i can order it in with mine, probably save some postage.
My parents will also be down from the Gold Coast, so if you let me know ASAP I can give it to them & you can pick it up from the Gold Coast?
I wouldnt mind putting the order in tonight to get moving on it.

guys,

if you pay over $200, your getting ripped...

i picked up my carby for $38.50 from a wrecker, then it was around $140 for a gasket kit, kero, new filter to fit and adaptor plate.

took it all apart, let it soak/clean in kero, then put it back together with the gasket kit and wacked it on my car.

i used a 34adm, as it allows for more agressive cam and other mods down the track. with my cam profile, and other mods, i did not need to re-jet it.

Are TCS carburettors still around (Taree carb service) they use to supply supercheap with all of their holleys and weber carbs years ago. Might be worth a shot?

Just spoke to a guy in Taree (doesnt have any carbies in stock...)
He said i DEFINTELY need the DFEV not the DG's, as the throttle pulls the wrong way?

On the US guys site it also has the DF as the kit for the Auto tranny...

Its $50 cheaper anyway so i mite use the DF carby.

He pointed me towards the Holley (which is a copy of the Weber DF)
He's also never heard of anyone putting on 34ADMs or anyone using them!

fun & games....

BCX7--- well i'm getting a brand newie for $250US & having to pull it apart & spend time on it isnt worth more than $100 for me....

The weber is on & its running...

The TPS is going to be an absolute bastard to fit, bit of welding & modding to be done there.

With the Air injection that comes from cyclinder #2, can i just plug the vacuum port & it'll never open again?
may not have the time to get the nut thingy outta the manifold (last time i needed to weld a bar to it)...

Stupid question, can the car run without a TPS? what happens if i do?
(need to make a 20k trip 2nite)

Its a TPS that goes in/out, it doesnt turn with the spindle, so i have to fit a cam on the throttle shaft (there's no room, so i have to weld it to the existing throttle cable cam) & try to fit some kind of adjustment...

With no choke or anything else, i bolted it on, turned the key & it runs fine! LOL... happy enough with that!

all running fine except for the TPS!!!

with no TPS its hunting between gears, with a TPS it never changes gears.
mounting it is going to be a complete PITA!!! ARGH!

Any suggestions?
