Ok come across a problem and instead of spending an hour under the freeken hot sun up here at the wreckers I'd thought i'd pose the question first as i think this will work but im not sure on some things...

The caliper bracket hole spacing between the 2nd gen's and 3rd gens is different, so looking at the part that joins the lower control arm (i think), the steering and also the strut, is it possible to use this part on a 2nd gen, In order to fit the 3rd gen caliper and brake setup?

Does anyone know if this idea will work? Because if it does, then 294mm rotors should be possible :)
I also need to know if the splines on the shaft are the same as a TR V6...
Cause looking at them closely, besides where the brake line gets bolted to, it looks pretty much the same....and would not be expensive to get from the wreckers....
And if stupid me a took a picture i could show you here, but if anyone has a picture to post up i can show in more detail what i mean...

I know what you are talking about Paul. You want to know if the 3rd gen hub assy will fit the 2nd gen, is that right?

I can say for certain cos i have never seen a 2nd gen. I cant imagine it would be too different. Remember too that they share the same stud pattern so if the hubs dont have the same amount of splines for the drive shaft, you may be able to do some interchanging.

Cant be too dear to buy from a wrecker tho.

may be worth mentioning that all the second gens with ABS came with the same twin-piston calipers as fitted to the sports/vr-x 3rd gen models

sports and vrx didnt come with twin piston, only the AWD's and ralliarts did. Tuff go to work and look up the driveline book see if the CV part no's are the same, if not give em a ring and ask them im sure they will be able to fix ya up.

P.S the twin piston on the 2nd gen uses the same276 rotor as the standard 3rd gens i believe

They are the same as EVO1, 2, and 3 claipers aswell as pajero..

Screamin - your right, do you have a picture at all?
I mean i only checked them both by eye, but yeah, they looked identical...does anyone know what the spline count is on the 3rd gens?
