Hiya,
Is it possible to place a V6 3 litre Mitsubishi Magna TR engine in place of my 2.6 litre TR engine?
What else needs to be done to make this happen?
Thanks hey.

Left hand engine mount is different, not sure by how much..but you would need to get that rectified. Then that would mean it has to be engineered since you've changed the mounts. Im not sure what the overall cost would be, but it would be less hassle if you sold your car and bought a V6 TR. That's not to say not to do it tho ;)

You will also need a new gearbox. Apparently I was told the gearbox in the V6 is different to the one on the 2.6 when I had my new 2.6 put in. Oh and most definitely a new ECU.

For the cost you would be paying you might as well buy a TE Magna. The TE's are 140kw as compared to the 98kw of the 2.6i and are more fuel efficient. You would be paying quite a bit to get a V6 fitted with new gearbox etc into your 2.6L. If you wanted to do it your best bet is probably buying a 3.0L TR/TS and taking out the engine and gearbox etc and convering them over and then selling the once 3L car with your 2.6L engine in it. But even that would be too complicated.

Yuh, I love my car, so I guess I'll leave it until I'm ready to buy another Magna.

only valuable option are:
4g63t - Evo engines or VR 4
or the 3000gt engine twin turbo

All of them would require engine mount changes

well i guess, having a few engine mounts changed isn't much to owrry when you are looking at going faster!
but i know they almost fit in without any dramas!

It's the legalities that's the problem, having to get it engineered etc. There's room for them...but it's the cost factor.

As KB said the lh mount is a problem, you also need to change all lower members and control arms as they are larger on the v6 because of the extra power and weight
If you are that keen, get a v6 and swap all the goodies into it and then sell yours off as a std 4
