Hi Guys,
Can someone recommend a good place in Melbourne to install a LPG system in my 380. Some idea of costs would be good.
Thanks.

Start here.
There an installer search there too
http://www.lpgautogas.com.au/
and the going price is about $4,400.00.
The 380 kit recommended by MMAL is the IMPCO Sequent 56, tho others profess to have the same system.
Ring MMAL regarding your warranty, for the Impco and others like eurogas and parnell.
And here some more.

Good luck, say goodbye to your Boot space.
But 55 litres will get me 350-400 K's round town, NO Highway.
Driving like I don't care about the price of fuel.
The sequel 56 is by far the best.
I recommend it without hesitation.
Here is an unerbonnet photo of the Impco Sequent 56 fitted to a 380GT

Thanks z80, any chance of a photo of the boot too so I can see how much room the tank takes up?
Cheers

I would like to, but the forum file limits on attachments are infuriating.

We went on a cruise on the weekend, and the trip down was quite normal, and the first quarter* of the tank, which normally gets me 85 km got me a rather impressive 130 km on open roads. So on the Highway I would now expect 500+ km per 50 odd litres.
The return trip was much more demanding, and after feulling up at near home, I used 38 litres for 340 k's or $24.00. The 380 will also use half a tank of juice every 2-3 months, less is you idle for 1 minute before driving. The changeover to gas takes that long when cold. 5 seconds when warm.
I also think that an auto LPG 380 with straight thru muffler and a 90mm intake will hold its own against a stock manual TL VRX (red with leather) from 80kmp/h and up.
So what's holding you back.......
( I normally get about 80-85 km per quarter tank about 53 litre fill. $33 @ 61.9 cpl).

FYI, the place where z80 got his done is still doing them.
I got a quote yesterday for my 380 SX from Agostino Mitsubishi at Nailsworth, for the Impco Sequent 56 full installed, for $4000 and they can do it within a week.
So if there are any other SA 380 owners looking to get it done, that looks like the place.

I don't think they stop supplying them for a while, Impco sank a fair bit into research for the 380 Kit.

yep....Agostini are the best service dept i have ever used.
Just make sure they fill the paperwork properly else Medicare will not give you the $2k rebate unless all the paperwork is perfect.
Agostini need a new printhead on their dot matrix invoice printer...:)
On mine it switches automatically from petrol to LPG as soon as the water temperature is on the lower line.
It's a great system ...none of this stuff about worrying if you've run it on petrol every xth tank...
Of course we checked that our engine has the hardened valves didn't we?

What the?
S1 GT is NOT LPG compatible (and retain warranty).
Speaking of which, Z80, the white GT that it was installed on...what series was it?

Mine is a Series 2 SX - from looking around the net, there is some kind of kit you can get to make it LPG ready which costs about $150. Does that sound about right?

crouch down and look at where the exhaust manifold connects to. ur now looking at the front head. ull either see one hole or 3.

I'm sure glad this is a family forum... that quote could so get taken out of context!

At last Agostino's here in Adelaide have managed to source some LPG tanks (there is a mass shortage apparently) and have got the SX booked in on Monday.
Woohoo
Shame none of the service stations have any LPG though, hahahaha

Just regarding the Manual 380 on Gas...
Some Manuals are Gas compatible.
I have a series 1 base model manual which is gas compatible.
Also, there were a small number of series 2 platinum edition SX manuals which were gas compatible.

Yeah, it doesn't seem cut and dried. I checked with ny dealer whether mine is, because I didn't expect it to be. They looked up the engine and VIN numbers in a table and said it is.

Hey folks
Has anyone had their LPG installed and found the engine warning light has been coming on?
If so, apparently it is a known issue with the firmware in the LPG system, and a ten minute update at pretty much any Impco dealer should fix it up.
Cheers

I take it nobody else has had this problem then? According to Agostino's, it is a very well known problem with the 380's.
