I have been looking for an Xi centre console for ages (the one with the covers), but I haven't been able to find one so I thought I'd make my own. Went to the local plastic supplies shop and bought some off cuts for $3 used a hacksaw to cut the rough shape, filed them to fit right and then used a heatgun to bend to the right shape.
Then sand down the rough edges and paint
Here's what I made

Don't look like much you say, put them on the console and it looks like this

And the hole lot

It takes about 30 mins to make them. The first ones I made I painted red and was going to do the whole console the same, but I thought it might look abit funny with the black car, so I made some more and had them professionally painted black.

Holy ****!!!
Now thats an awesome DIY project man...
Are they on hinges or anything or just covers?

looks classy, but you need a 6sik6trimming gear boot and a new knob to really set it all off nicely as your current ones brings down the whole area.
sorry if that sounded nasty but the rest of the car looks like you put some decent time and effort into so why not finish the little things to keep it all together.

No hinges they just sit there. They don't rattle or anything. I am waiting for the clearance warehouse to find some new gearknobs so I can get one (I like the factory one), and I did have a boot coming through a swap, but it didn't come (no biggy).
Thanks for the good feedback!

They look good, but what do you do with them when you want to use those cup holders or storage tray?

I just take it off and put it in the glove box with the first set I made
I could make more and sell them, but it's so easy people can make them themselves!

...I could make more and sell them, but it's so easy people can make them themselves!Nah, go into production mate.
Some of us don't have the skill, tools or time (or all three like me lol)
I would be very interested in a set of these, in either raw (to be painted) or painted Sable Black.
I wanted a Verada console until I saw what was under the coin tray lid.
If your interested - work out your price dude. ;)

I'll buy a set if you produce them- will pay $25 plus postage unpainted if that gives you any motivation to do so??

id take a set too mate
look great
Great Scott !:D
Very professional effort. You can definitely go into production with this if it only takes 30 minutes. Wouldn't be difficult with some very small craft style hinges from a jewelry box or similar.
Get the GPS cable wired behind the dash so its hidden.
The paint job is very good also, matches the rest of the car.
