I've had a couple of quotes for supply and fitting of pacemakers and the cheapest I've had so far is $790.
I've used the search function and found people payed alot less, but these threads are a couple of years old.
Anybody know of any exhaust shops in Sydney that can do it for a bit less??

Cheers

Sounds pretty rich. They barely take 2hrs to install on a FWD, so theres 110 labour + cost of extractors. For that sort of money you could get a new inlet manifold ;)

Usually I'd expect to pay no more than $120-180 for fitment, depending on where you go. However, this normally means they are re-using your factory 2.25" flex pipe section (for the 3.5Ls anyway, not sure what size the 3Ls have).

A couple of years ago brand new pacies could be had for around the $400-450 mark, I would have thought it would be much the same now.

IMO if you're getting extractors fitted, go to the trouble of getting a 2.5" flex pipe section made up. Or buy something like the RPW "race" spec, which comes with a 2.5" flex pipe and is an supposed to be easy bolt-on job.

I believe much of the gain from fitting extractors is negated if you keep the 2.25" flex pipe section, which sort of defeats the purpose of having a larger exhaust system. The worst thing you can have is a bottleneck upstream near the start of the exhaust.

Id be bloody exctatic to be quoted $790!!

I was quoted by the best reputed exhaust shop in town nearly $1100

But then i found a mate that works for mitsu that said he would do it for a carton, still dont know how much the extractors are by themselves

Takes about 2-3 hours to install Pacies into a Magna.

Considering most places charge around $70 an hour, factor in a price if between $140 - $210 for install.

Also remember that if your buying the actual Pacies from the same place thats doing the install, you will get a discount.

from memory when i bought mine 5 years ago they were $360 for the extractors themselves and then $130-$160 for install.

i think i bought mine from Online Performance Autos (ebay)

Between Pacemakers and RPW, Pacemakers sound like the better value of the two based on kit pricing. The only issue which I have thought about and its also been mentioned here is the inclusion of a 2.5" flex pipe in the RPW kit, which is a step up from the factory 2.25" flex pipe.
Not to mention that the RPW race spec kit is supposed to be a better design and a direct bolt on.
Once you include all this, are the Pacemakers really better value?

Any thoughts?

Mine were 1300 fitted. BUT....that included new flex bellows, custom bash plate to protect forward primaries AND ceramic coating (which was a 350 option from Pacemaker memory).

$580

$440 for part $140 for labour. Flexifit Exhaust Hoppers Crossing, Melbourne :)

with the pacemakers, they have to cut your engine pipe and use the flex pipe bit. will take pitures tomorrow.

got my daughter in my arm atm, she is asleep...typing is an effort.

find a mechanic whos done the fitment before, you might save on labour costs.
i had pacemakers fitted a couple years ago,by a mob who clearly hadnt worked on magnas very much, after a short while the car had all manner of flat spots and idling problems.
turned out they buggered up the oxygen sensor when fitting.

Heres a picture of what they look like under the car, they cut the engine pipe up, leaving only the flex pipe, weld a plate onto the end of it and bolt it up to the merge pipe. The part that they remove, contains the restrictive metal plates in the engine pipe that on occassions, tend to break off causing a rattle in your exhaust.

What do you guys think of HM headers?

What do you guys think of HM headers?

Flexifit that did the job for me, told me to stay away from them, but the HM headers are the same ones that are fitted to the Ralliart Magnas, but hey, some Ralliart Magna have had their extractors replaced with Pacemakers, go figure...

only reason why i had my went Pacemakers was for 3 main reason:

1: I needed my engine pipe replaced as i have broken off a bit of the metal divider in the engine pipe which caused a rattle in my exhaust.
2: Most people recommend them and they are good value for money
3: I got them at a cheaper price than HM headers

I was wondering, what types of gains would you expect with an aftermarket extractor? Better bottom end torque? Any changes in fuel economy?

Also do pacemaker make extractors for the AWD?

I need to change the tip on my exhaust to go with the VRX kit and I thought I might get the extractors done at the same time...

Thanks!

Back when i got mine done (2004) it was $383 from the wholesaler (there is a wholesaler in each major city that can deliver them for around $20)

Anyhow, my old thread is here (http://aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8988&highlight=pacemaker) for those in melbounre

They have the HM's on eBay for both FWD and AWD for $450 delivered. Just search "hm extractors magna".
