Guys I have a series 2 VRX manual,

I am a little unhappy with it!

The main concearn is the revs at highway speed at 110-115kph it sits very close to 3000rpm!

which is a little high for my liking or am i spoiled by previously driving a 5.7L 6 speed SS ute?

It is screaming for a 6th gear do you auto boys have a similar problem?

any complaints on either?

Ha ha mate,

You've just reopened a very contentious subject for 380 owners!

Blue380, forgive me

At 100kmh my car does ~1800rpm.

Acceleration performance has proved to be very little difference between both transmissions. The manual feels more lively but it's not borne out in actual tests. It is a close ratio box so it's supposed to be shorter geared to give better acceleration *shrugs*

The auto has very flattering fuel economy especially compared to the manual, probably because of the longer geared fifth.
I would be confident in saying all the auto owners are quite happy with the tippy ratios - while understanding the reasons they purchased an auto.

So, yes, a manual sixth gear would seem to be a good idea particularly with the torque available.

Whoops please forgive me also:shock:

I test drove all auto but then when i found this manual i didnt even test drive it i flew straight to melbourne and picked it up!

It doesnt do bad on the highway all things considered. All things being the highest reving car on the highway i have ever driven!

but you can sit in 5th at 50 kmph no worries but oh well!

Still contemplating importing the 6sp trans for the 6G75 from the US personally..........

Just gotta decide how much I like my warranty lol

Speaking personally, I grabbed an auto because they had a black 380 (which I wanted) on the day I went there, ex-demo with a good offer... plus I was told manuals are ultra rare. Furthermore my wife wanted the auto as she can't drive manual (although in 2 years she's driven it maybe 5 times - grrr). So I certainly did not snub the manual; I would definately have gotten one if one was available.
In the last debate, Blue380 (who has a manual) and myself drove each others' car (check that thread for all the details); both cars being identical in mods to suspension, exhaust, intake, and mileage (only wheel size being different) - and to us, both cars felt the same.
If I had the chance, I'd happily own one!

Sidewinder keep me posted on that 6 speed option!

If you could pick one up and a direct bolt on proposition i would jump at the oportunity!

might start looking into it!

I feel better about the manual already!

US Galants were auto only in the 6G75 V6, but the Eclipse had a manual option with the 6sp. Have someone looking into a conversion over there of the 6sp Eclipse box into a Galant. Working out if it has room and needs any additional components or anything, but hopefully not.
As for bolting up, it shouldn't be different between the two as they are both the same engine.
