My tail lights & dash lights arent working,i have checked the fuses and the bulbs and they are fine
does anyone know whats going on? as its really annoying not being able to drive at night

the tj? i put a new stereo in it and since then its been stuffed and all i touched was the stereo wires and nothing else mate

i had this happen to my old vp commodore, it was a fuse, did you check them by just looking or did you try a different fuse because sometimes they can be blown without looking like it

uv blown a fuse most likely because youve connected the old stereo illumination wire ( should be black with white trace from memory) to the earth wire of the new headunit.

replaced the fuses and it still aint working so i am gonna try pulling the stereo back otu and seeing if your right mytsgt95

im embarrest to say this but i did it when i fitted mine. and we get them all the time at work (auto elec) so its mostlikely to be that. did you replace the factory headunit.

i did that to my TJ the other week. no dash lights and no tail lights. brake lights still worked though. it was definitely a fuse. cant remember which one it was, but it didn't look like it had broken. make sure you check and check again mate. look very hard at each one. but you also have to trace back to the problem that is blowing the fuse. i had just installed a reversing camera to my stereo and it wasn't grounding properly.

Had this happen in the TR recently, was a fuse in the engine bay. Cut out the dash lights and tails...was 15A from memory

Same problem here when I reinstalled my stock stereo a few months ago. I had not earthed the stereo properly and I had no dash or tailights. As soon as it was earthed properly, it was fine.

mate if you are an auto electrician what wire is for memory????? everytime i take the keys out it turns off!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you need constant power

the factory loom is as follows:
the red with black trace is the permenent feed (constant 12v)
the blue wire is the ignition feed
the green with white wire is the tail light/illumination feed this is not used with aftermarket headunits.

the earth for the new headunt should be connected to a body earth (this is were people go wrong they connect the earth wire of the after market headunit to the illumination feed which blows the fuse).
