I know folks have done a tj rear end conversion and all but was looking at a tl today thinking that out of the 3rd gen series, it has the nicest. Are the lines the same as the te? I know the boot will bolt up and the lights will have to be changed. the main part that concerns me is on the side where the bumper wraps around the rear quarter, it looks a different angle.
vrx rear. mmmmm

Warning: This information is the 'i heard from a mate who was told by a guy at the supermarket that has a cousin that is dating who is dating a girl that read somewhere' kind of information.

I seem to remember that when i was thinking of doing a TJ boot and light conversion i was told that its also possible to use TL/W lights but the rear bar must be changed as well.

So it must be possible

I reckon that it'll all bolt staight on.
If you really want to know, prolly best to find and park next to tl and have a real good look over it.
But I believe the rear of third gens are purely cosmetic.

Its a bootlid + lights + bumper job.

All bolt on.

thats what i was thinkin. the te has skinny white girl ass, but the tl has ghetto booty.

If your going to do it, go the whole hog and get a KL rear end!
Better looking IMO

You can really see influences of the BA falcon in the way they changed the TL/TW rear end from that photo.

TL/W VR-X rear end... Anything else in that series is for the weak and the pregnant.

I like the VRX TL rear bumper too. Doesn't have that stupid line in it like the TH/TJ's have. I was hoping it would be a direct bumper swap. Anyone got a definitive answer?

im pretty sure you have to change tail lights as well seeing as if you want to put tl lights on a tj you need the bumper and boot so therefore if you want a tl bumper you would need the lights and bootlid

yeah, its all good. wanted to know if it could be done. Sounds like it can. all i have to do now is find a wrecked tl vrx.

I was quoting Magtone, who has a TJ... lights are same shape iirc ;)

i think the outer edge on the tl's have a softer curve to them than the tj, but thats about it. oh yeah, the tj vrx tail lights have a darker tint to them.

Isn't it only the TL/W tails that were tinted? Could be wrong but I thought I read it somewhere...

was lookin at doing this myself to my TJ after my lil accident, you need a TL bootlid if you have the TL bumper coz of the softer edges on the lid and for me the tail lights would be the same but you would need TJ ones or if ya wanted the tinted TL VRX ones which look awesome as. i say do it, not to mention a TL VRX rear bumper is far cheaper then the 3 peice apron for the TJ and still has the awesome effect with the silver insert and the exhaust cut out.

Here's some pics of TW VRX Tailights on my TJ Sports there's a very little gap but only noticable when up close.
