It depends on your budget dude. Umm wouldnt go pioneer for the front stage ( i.e the splits ) but definately get a headunit and/or rear fill if you wish. I think that one of fhrx's $2000 set up should do the trick,
Deck: Pioneer/ Alpine ( or JVC :D )
Splits: Boston FS-60 / Hertz HSK 165 / Diamond M361 / Focal 165A /
Rainbow SLX 230.03 / Morel Pulse
Rear: Any 2 or 3 coaxial, 6inch I think is standard.
Amp:Audison SRx3 ( 65wrmsx 2 + 340wrmsx 1 Running 4 ohm front and 2 ohm sub )
Sub: I would personally go with a hertz HX 300d so you can deliver a 2 ohm load from the amp.
Something like that would be the envy of most your friends. But how much do you have to work with?
Welcome to the forums jono_04! :D
Mr Charisma is correct, there are many possiblities but a good starting guide is the system he has listed above. :)

Just an idea of subs in magnas.
You know in ur boot, right at the back of the car, there is a bit that kinda goes "in" behind the wheel arch. Make up some mdf pieces that will fit in front of these "in" bits, and put ut rubs in em, may not be the best placement, but it still leaves you with storage space.
And if you love ur storage space, whack ur amps under ur seats with a 12v cooling fan or two.

Any ideas people???????go see the guys at tonkins, complete audio etc...they will be sure to suggest a system to suit your needs
why the hell would you want two subs in different boxes in one car btw?
those be some good suggestions, but keep your eye open for 2nd hand bargains....you can get some top quality gear for not that much if you know what to look for

if u use ur boot alot, its gunna save space. U know how big those double boxes are.

i have 2 single boxes in my tp cos a double box does not fit in the back of my boot ..... so im gessing that would be 1 good reason not to have double boxes
i know having two SEPERATE Boxes (both of equal size im assuming) can save space, but the need for two DIFFERENT boxes....now that puzzles me
i know two subs can take up a fair bit of space, my old twin w0's took up a nice 3 cuft......

I dont see the point in having 2 x 12inch subs.. it just means you will have to spend more money on an amp to properly run them. Save the money even if you where going to get 2 sony 1220's or whatever for $170boxed put it aside and get something nice like a Hertz Hx 300, they are quite nice for around $350.
To be different, for $2000 why dont you get something like,
JVC mp3 H/u 4 volt sub out with control etc etc $400
Hertz ESK 165 splits $229
Hertz ECX690 3 way 6x9's $210
Hertz HX 300d 12inch sub DVC 4 ohm $369
Cadence 2x50 WRMS for front stage $189
Cadence 1x 400WRMS @ 2ohm for sub $399
Thats almost $1800 but you have to include box, install, cables, haggleing etc etc and i reackon you could get it installed for $2000. Even if you ditch the 6x9's for $99 Pioneer ones. Endless possibilties but you need to go and sample some products before you buy :D

oohh now im with ya ***nutz2k i agree
I was going to add, I wouldn’t bother running with the 6x9 idea if you’re planning subwoofers in the boot. ;)

you can always filter the bass from any 6x9 with a resistor(?) works like a treat till i can get a type-r and put my type-s split for rear fill :D

wouldn't that defeat the purpose of running 6x9s in the 1st place? why not just use coaxials?

Why do you even need rear fill? We want a 3 way front stage!!!!

i'm running a subwoofer and why would i need bass fro 6x9? and most TR/S came with 6x9 speaker hole at rear, unless you want to make a custom panel for 5.25 or 6.5 inch speakers, putting a resistor on 6x9 is a cheaper option. :)

TR i dont think have rear holes and the TS have 6 inch holes and from TE onward they have 6x9 inch holes.
TR has parcel shelf holes, just need to cut the carpet..
i'd put in 6"s... don't distort as easy as the oval shapped 6x9's...
actually depends on the model
i have a 93 TR SE and a 94 TR Exec......
There is clearly a 6x9 hole there cut out into the metal by mitsubishi. However in my SE, there is a 6" spacer as such from the factory, to allow 6" inch speakers to fit over the 6x9 cutout.......
but forget about rear fill for now, concentrate on the front and getting it up and running (cause everyone knows that even the crappy rears in a tr are a million times better than the 3.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 inch fronts in the dash)
edit: and why would 6 inch speakers distort any earlier than 6x9s?.......
