Hey guys,

My girlfriend brought a 1994 TR magna V6 Auto exec on the weekend with 211000 on the clock, with new breaks all round + a new exhaust for $1850 with 11 months rego:D (ill post pics later).

Anyway, a mate of mine drove it back from Sydney and he said i was misfiring at about 2000rpm under load and when it was idling. When we got it home i changed the oil+filter and i had a set of new spark plugs from my last car (new) and so i waked them in (gaped properly). Clean the engine bay down started her up, it started to misfire and then went away. I was driving the car last night and it started to do it again when it got hot (half way on the temperature gauge). She has been driving around all week and it hasn't done it.

any one know what it might be?

thanks
Michael

Try new distributor cap and plug leads while you're at it.

if it happens again, test your TPS

Could be a timing issue, when car reaches operating temperature, ECU adjusts mixtures accordingly... Perhaps your dizzy is a tooth out? Not sure... Or in worst case scenario it was like my old TR and the capacitors in the ECU had leaked out all over the PCB, fun.

yea it would be hey, i took it out the road for a bit of a clean out. It helped a lot, it didn't miss for a while , but it did later

try a different temp plug. When the plugs are not the right temperature range for the vehicle, it can cause misfiring issues.

Check you have the correct plugs, coils also tend to play up when hot, when you take it for a run the cool air going up and under hte bay tends to cool them down just enough for them to be happy again, slow down and the heat builds up again. This is a big issue with these crap transistor coils cars use these days.

Also check your fuel flow and pressure, a dodgy pump can cause a similar issue. May be giving pressure but not enough flow.
