Hey AMC,
I have a TW 2005 Magna and my soundsystem got installed and the battery had to be disconnected. Now my dash monitor(where it shows the kilometres and stats) is flashing 5 non stop, and when i press the mode button it flasheses 66. I remember a while ago my mitsu mechanic friend pressed some buttons to stop it but i don't remember what he pressed.
The idling is okay since i followed the advice on previous threads
Thanks,
Danstar

you will find that the 5 is actually a S. its asking for car type. yours is sedan (s) etc.

there is a process to setup when you reconnect the battery.
There is both "S" and "W", you can press up an down on your speed alert to change. s being sedan, w being wagon
Since your car is a sedan hold down MODE to select
then it will flash either 3.0 or 3.5, this is your engine size
since your car is a TW you select 3.5 on hold MODE to select.
Thats it.

Why on earth would you need to tell the car what type it is?
What happens if you got it wrong?

Well instead of making 4 seperate trip units;
3.5 sedan
3.5 wagon
3.0 sedan
3.0 wagon
they made one that could to the lot.. seems logical to me

But why didnt they make it so the car could tell itself what it is? Surely this information would be stored on the ECU somewhere.
Unless i just dont understand what your saying, hang on il read it again..... Sorry i still dont get it (not being a smarta**e by the way)

i think its cause the 3.5 litres have the same ECU, but you have to say weather its a sedan or wagon becuase the fuel tanks are different sizes
so if you program it wrong you'll get the wrong reads from the trip computer
distance to empty and how much you've got left in the tank
but thats what im thinking its for
