Ok so it's not for a magna but we don't have a general car mod section so this will do.
Figure I'd throw a poll up. Trying to decide between which to do first as a mod. Each has it's positives and negatives though
Wheels
Pros: looks great, may avoid any delays due to holidays if purchased around november,
Cons: Need to save up till around november, need to lower the car if wheels are added (but can get a set of springs for cheap atm
Exhaust
Pros: More powa! (and better exhaust note), Can pickup a system at the moment for a good 500 cheaper than if i was to get it later. Can afford now.
Cons: Car wont look as cool as it would with wheels, Exhaust note is decent for now (so its the power i'd be after rather than the note if changing exhaust)
Whichever I do first, next mod would probably come around February.
Picture of the car now if that helps in terms of what it looks like stock

Go exhaust I reckon, as you'll change your mind on rims anyway... gives you time to save up and get something decent in the rims dept.

I agree go the exhaust first, maybe do the springs at the same time if u can get them cheap now?

I've seen it done on a few 350's on the 350z forum i'm on but I wouldn't powder coat because whenever I sell the car I will return it to stock so would want wheels to remain stock plus I definitely would want bigger wheels.
Rims wise I'm dead set on volk gts. The only problem with them is the price which is why I looked for cheaper alternatives at the start and realised having brembo's causes clearance problems with just about any of the cheaper brands.
edit:
Regardless I'm going to buy the springs now as otherwise I need to import them myself or go king springs/lovells which I want to avoid (springs i'm after are better quality)

dont powder coat them rims cause them wheels alone are worth a bit. they look good as it is so go exhaust. what kinda exhaust is it? will you be doing just from the cat or will you be doing headers and all?

for now it will be y pipe and after. Stock cats are good apparently so leaving those and will probably grab some headers later on when something I like comes up. The stock headers are really bad.
Brand of the exhaust is Fujitsubo. It sounds pretty good and it isn't overly loud. Oh and looks OEM apart from it being stainless steel.

that will look hot
but have heard and seen this exhuast on a 350 and ye it sounded so freaking awesome http://justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=16361&cat=0&page=1
bit expensive but sounded so hot

the fujitsubo i'm paying almost as much anyhow. Main reason I'm picking it over other 20+ brands out there is that its not extremely loud and allows me to still fit the standard rear diffuser.
nobody who picked wheels has any comments?

Yup, agree with the crowd here.
On that car with those stock wheels - go with the exhaust.
The car looks sweet-as now - no urgent need to change that (yet anyway).
Then start saving the pennies for the springs & rims.
...and by the time you've saved up for the rims:
1. You'll be ready for a change from the stockies.
2. If you will still like the Volk GTS rims - you will know 110% their the right rims.
3. If you find other rims you like better in the meantime - you haven't wasted your money.
By the way - which colour rims do you want to get (silver or shadow/grey/black or whatever they are)?
...and i found a Z with them (different colour though)...

P.S. - Are these the rims... (see attached pic)

yeah they are the same wheels. Colour I am heavily leaning towards is titanium gunmetal which is the top left photo in your attached image.
Also another reason I'd be ready to change the wheels is that I'll have worn the tyres out :)
edit tracked down 2 images of the wheels on a blue 350... pity about the kit

...Also another reason I'd be ready to change the wheels is that I'll have worn the tyres out :) ...That may change my vote. If your going to need new tyres soon, then maybe rims would be the logical (financial) choice.

Looks nice.
I have plenty of tread left. About 50% at the front, 80-90% at the rear. More so meant depending how "spirited" my driving is I may wear them out by then but I doubt it. My intention is that the absolute latest point i'll put new wheels on the car will be when my tyres can just scrape through for a rwc. Still have a fair bit of time till then

Exhaust. 350Z with a loooud exhaust booted it down the main street in Hyde Park a couple of weeks ago... the howl it made was effing fantastic, a sharp, frantic, primeval howl.
Delicious.
IMO go wheels, 350z looks and sounds phat stock, but rims would make it stand out from any other 350z on the road more than an exhaust. Not that many people would say "that 350 there sounds better than the one I saw that other month".

I do both every time I change cars now...exhaust and wheels. Then everything else.
The change in torque and power when I changed the Magna exhaust was exceptional and I've never looked back.
