Has anyone replaced their front springs with king lows while keeping the rear at normal height?

How does it handle and look?

I've recently put some 18's on my TL (pics coming soon in member's machines) and the 4wd-like height is even more noticable than before. I want to lower it but I think SL/L combo might be a bit too low for me....

thoughts?

King Lows are supposed to be about a 45mm drop. Having the front that much lower than the back won't look good.

There's no harm in dropping the back though. I've got King Lows all around on a TJ VR-X, and it's the front bumper that scrapes. I rarely scrape the side skirts (only seems to be when the back's loaded down), and I've only scraped the exhaust once (out of my own driveway, mind you ). If you think you'd be comfortable with Lows on the front, then dumping the back won't be an issue at all.

I got king lows all round and i never scrape my body. My tow hooks at the front scrape on the curb a lil bit and my tow bar scrapes on steep driveways if im not carefull.

Not a good idea on a fwd car,the idea is to stiffen up the rear over the front, not soften it,as the harder front springs with their higher rate will probably induce more understeer, not what your after really, not top mention the car will look like its a door wedge,,BTW,you judge a cars "eveness" by the sill panel, not the wheel arches so king lows all round will sit even enough and like other have said, the front is the most likely to hit things, not the back

Fair enough guys, thanks for the info.

Do any of you that are on lowered springs drive much on country roads? Are they much of a problem?

No probs on country roads just watch for real deep potholes.

I do some semi-country driving regularly (Bruce Highway between Brisbane and Gladstone) and the car rides and handles fine.

I had a mate who did this to his old skool amicrian POS front wheel drive thing (cant remember what it was called) to get the look of a drag car (clever i know:gtfo: )

result: understeer city!! it was near on impossible to drive round corners... granted it was piss poor to start with but i would not recomemed it

Thanks for the comments, yeah I was just toying with the idea as I'm looking to lower my car soon. I want the front to be a little lower than the rear to get even arch-gaps but I don't want the car to be dragging its guts on the street so to speak...

So yeh just looking at my options

Unless you put Superlows on the front, I don't see the point in going lower at the front. The difference would be less pronounced if, say, you had the back lowered 20mm and the front lowered 30mm.

Superlows/Lows probably isn't for everyone, but it's not *that* low a height. The only thing that catches me out is the concrete stops in parking lots. I've never scraped over a speed bump, and the vast majority of driveways are fine, provided I take them at an angle.

You could always go for Lows all around. I agree with Steevo - an even looking car is even along the sill/side skirt, not the gap in the wheel arch. It's low enough without being stupidly low.

it put lows in the front of my old car, cause of the stereo system was a bit heavy lol, it weighed down the back a bit.
