Hey All,

Bit of an update with my car, hasnt been on the road, just smoothing out a few items on the 'to-do' list.

Put a new toy on the car tonight:

:) Enjoy the pics!

I have also fitted 276mm slotted up front and will do the rear + 4 EBC red-stuff pads very soon!

Will probably be pulling my head off and swapping with a spare I have to have a look whats going on with my car, still missfires, has 2,000km on her but cant be re-mapped for 1 bar of boost till I sort it out!

Pce

Red stuff's too...You gonna be racing the car?
Why the oil filter relocation kit if you dont mind asking.

And what size is your intercooler

Relocation kit is to move my filter away from my dump pipe, it was absolutely roasting my oil. Its now located in my wheel arch with a Z9 filter (ford) which is bigger and does a better job at filtering. Yes, the hoses are still going to cop the heat, but not as much, and I will probably be getting my manifold (or atleast the dump pipe) ceramic coated, this should result in my oil temperature initially dropping by about 15-20 degrees as is, once coated, should up to about a 20 - 25 degree drop in oil temperature, ensuring longer engine life, less wear, and more protection.

I am unsure what size my IC is. Its not small. :)

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/D-NYD/turbodump.jpg This is how close my Turbo Dump gets to my Oil Filter, which is is why its been moved. Just remember, car is a lot hotter than standard. It was getting so bad, I would be putting fresh oil in the car and 2 days later it was burnt and my tappets were noisy. Car needs some serious cooling :)

does the oil flow through the new circuit inc oil cooler well enough just through gravity??

No, oil pump....oil pressure... :) But its always important not to mount it higher than your block, too much strain on most oil pumps.

probably wouldnt hurt to mount the oilcooler higher up behind the grille, then all but touching the FMIC. IF it cant be moved without more plumbing required, its not worth the effort though.

who made the oil filter block adapter? i suppose its an astron and a few people do a little more then a port and polish on them...

As far as the filter goes, bigger is better but only to the tune of lasting longer between changes. Best filters to get are obviously the biggest with the smallest micron rating and anything with a blockage relief valve. No matter what anyone tells you, a filter with a spring to let oil flow around the mesh if it gets blocked is better for engine longevity then just a huge filter. Dont know about the filter you have but with the money spent id take it that maintenace is high on your agenda.

Have you got any ideas on the miss fire issue you are having? Is swapping the head just a trial and error thing or you have a hunch? Any igntion system modifications or is the mitsie gear up to it?

I will start with the missfire:

No one knows what it really is. Why im going to be swapping heads is to look at my pistons and try and obtain a TRUE dead center to eliminate timing. The spare head I have also has a different cam grind and has a few more performance modifications done to it than my current head. If this does not fix the miss fire, will be installing a Haltech brand Coil and Stepper motor, so that pretty much every component on my ECU is Haltech and eliminate and chance of poor communication between ECU and Car.

The Filter is a Z9 is used on every ford pretty much since adam and eve. Im sure if it was a crap filter would have been changed by these days. Pretty common, so no dramas about it not being on the shelf. As for where ive mounted it, the idea was to do a subtle install, well hidden and I believe ive achieved that. Ofcourse if people were to do this on there N/A cars, you would cable tie it onto your radiator. Was just easier to do it on my Inter Cooler.

The Relocation mount on the block is just part of a kit. I will be ripping the Brand names and Stock number off the boxes for people to use, will post that up soon.

With the Filter, the generic thread on it is for a Z9 filter, but comes with 3-4 other adapter rings, so if you are adamant on running the magna filters still you probably could.

Will post up pics of the finished product soon, not that you will see much!! And will let you know how my oil holds up.

Main reason for this install was to cool my oil, needed it badly. Would do and oil change and 2 days later the oil would be black and cooked. This is phase 1 of my cooling stages, next one will be Ceramic Coating my turbo dump and heat wrapping it, as well as a heat shield to protect my 10mm race leads.

All up its cost me $600 bucks inc all the parts (as mentioned above I think) so if you want to do a 'smart' modification, then feel free and I will answer any questions.

:)

so about that champ, i wasnt saying it was a bad filter, as its size alone makes up for any short comings. WHat i meant to say was, when you are having such issues with your oil life, something with a pressure relief valve inside would be a added bonus, im unsure of those filters, but i know the equivelant valvolene item has the pressure spring and is the same size. Definetely wasnt infering that you use the stock mitsie magna ones.

2 reasons i mentioned the oil cooler location was if they are bolted to the radiator, thats not so much an issue as the coolant is supposed to be around the 80-90degree mark, where as an intercooler is best when the inlet charge is as cold as possible. The other is, going from your picture, the oil cooler will be sitting outside your front bumper, unprotected from tampering, and the like...it also does ruin the stealthy install of the relocation kit (which is a great idea by the way)

Obviously you have an engine builder who you use? but things like plug gap, hotspots in the combustion chamber, severe backpressure in the manifold before the turbo, highish compression (say over 10:1) bad fuel, or good fuel with not enough timing advance, irractic fuel pressure, poor engine grounding, boost/vaccume leak.

GOod luck champ, defintely let us all know how its going

The pic of the oil cooler is with my entire inter cooler reversed so that people can see the mounting job, the whole thing will be reversed and hidden behind the inter cooler which will then have the bumper bolted infront of it all so the car will look exactly as it did before. :)

When I get around to taking a pic, you will see that it is all hidden 100%
