battery has water and jump starts fine will drive fine and hold charge for about 10 mins after car is turned off. but after that 10 mins the battery wont even unlock the doors central locking style or display the reds even.. the door light (on dash) is lucky to power up! the battery had no week spot before this but car wasnt driven for 6 days before this.. it wont even wind over once (unless its in the 1st 10mins after turning it off) so i have assumed its the alternator draining the battery! anyone got any sugestions?
thanks

That sounds very like the battery has come to the end of its life...
Do you have a battery charger..?? if so disconect terminals and put battery on charge over nite. sometime they can be okay if they get a good charge. Does sound like its off to battery heaven though..:)

Jump start it, take it for a run and when you get back disconnect it.
Leave it for an hour or so, reconnect it and see if it starts the car.
It sounds more like the battery is stuffed. :D

so if it starts after the 1hour disconection it is the altinator? as it couldnt drain the battery
is that the idea? good thinking:D

How is your alt going to drain the battery?
Your battery is dead, they only last a few years.

i belive there are diode's in the altinator and when they die the altinator will charge the battery when being fed power and work in reverse when car is off!

If I remeber correctly, the alt would be trying to spin.
Take the belt off and see what happens.
Or, you could replace the battery.

replace the battery.
will do
My battery went from perfectly happy to dead in 2 days. Noticed one night the car turned over a bit longer than usual, the next night she struggled to start, following morning dead as a doornail.
New battery FTW.

I wouldn't be angry about paying more. That battery should last you a few years, maybe 3, the cheap crap $60 one I got is already dying after 8 months.
