Had a recent head gasket problem fixed by a mechanical shop and put the car back in for the head bolts to be retentioned.
When I picked it up the account had a comment "CV boots perished - renew"
Madmagna replaced the shafts just over a year ago and when I did the front brakes at the weekend the boots were fine so challenged them over this comment.
"Badly perished" they verbally told me, so when I gets the car home I slides underneath to check...FA wrong with them!!!
I think nowadays it's called "job creation" so be wary of what people tell you if they stand to make money!!

I'd be taking the car back and asking them to justify their claim- then advise them that you are no longer a customer due to inadequacies of their staff.

Guess that's why they say "when you find a good mechanic, stick to them" I've been going to mine for almost 9 years now with all my cars, and I tell all my mates and people at work to as well and no complaints about him or the service... free plug for them for the people on the sunny coast

I won't publically name them might be more hassle than it's worth, they seemed to have fixed the head gasket okay just a pity they ruined it by saying the boots were perished.
I won't be back... so in trying to get future work they lost a customer!!

i was talking to a guy who own's a big mechanical repair franchise and he told me he pay's his mortgage by finding an additional $300-500 worth of repairs on every car that comes through his workshop, not good.

I can vouch that they were both brand new shafts, I fitted them lol
Is a shame when these grease monkeys put the rest of us to shame, then again there are many occupations with good and bad. (believe me, I deal with real estate agents daily and while some are excellent some are down right rogues)
Have to say though, love those wheels, must have been a great previous owner :)

I would still check them thoroughly though. I have had original Mitsu boots perish in less than 18 months.
