Does anyone have any quality detailed pictures of the RPW (or other, self made) high flowed throttle body for the Magna/Verada models?

I am looking at doing my own TB, and would like to get ideas by viewing examples. Quality pics preferred. Any tips from anyone who has already done this themselves will be appreciated. Thank You.

i have a pic of the EZboy one..

excuse the crappyness.. it's a photo off my phone which is resized down to about 1/4 size.. and i sharpened the picture to give a bit better detail..

from what i could tell just having them side by side.. there is a step about 8mm from the face of the butterfly that Ian has taken off..

personally i think you could use a bigger butterfly alltogether.. there are no holes that the butterfly actually closes on.. so you could go a couple mm bigger quite easy

Fairly easy process, have a look at this thread: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12330

I have some high res shots of a 3.5 throttlebody that I've done but they're at home. I'm also doing a 3.0 one tonight, will post some up of both later if I remember.

Edit: Have also done a 1st gen 2.6 throttle body plus intake manifold, gains seem to be: quicker response time and better acceleration under part throttle.

I shined it up a bit more afterwards with some fine sandpaper and carby cleaner.

On a side note, I've had a look at the throttle bodies on the 3.0 12v engines and they dont seem to have any lips like the 3rd gen ones do.

Correct, just 5mm smaller bore.

1) Take the bottom lips out - front and back of the butterfly.
2) The lip behind the top doesn't get in the way, you can take it out if you want.
3) improve the air-line from the TB inlet at the top, to the butterfly. It has a hump, level it out.
4) Straighten the lip out on the inlet so it's level and not rounded.

Don't go too nuts for your first one unless you have a steady hand and good cutting tips. I use double cut cylindrical burs from the US, the Dremel stuff is rubbish and doesn't cut as smoothly. Polish for looks (not much else) and some 240 or 320 to polish up the buttefly. Use kero as your cutting lube/oil.

Enjoy.

The tip is to just get one from EZ. High quality work at rock bottom prices. Honestly, it's not worth your effort when you can get an expert to do it so cost effectively is the conclusion I reached.

Thank you gentlemen. Good sound advise from all. Nice Pics too.

I'll give it a try myself, as its not just the result that I am after, but the journey getting there and satisfaction of doing it myself. I have a spare TB so if I stuff it up, I have a backup plan :)

I'll post pics once I'm done, and show everyone my results.

You cant go wrong, as long as you have a keen eye for detail

Just grind and grind untill its smooth, then use some sandpaper untill it's even smoother, haha :P

True - if you have a keen eye for detail, at least you will realise if you have drilled too much and need to throw that TB away! :P
