Was just wondering if anyone has had to repair a rear diff on an AWD at all?

I seem to have a fair bit of driveline backlash which is due to something in the diff. Spacer or something?

Also, i did the check to see if the LSD works and it seems like mine isn't. I jacked up the rear of the car and turned a wheel slowely and the wheel on the opposate side turned in the opposate direction when it is ment to go in the same direction.

The car never gets a hard time so i am wondering why this has happened.

Anyone else had these problems and or can anyone recommend a diff repair place in Melbourne SE suburbs?

Thanks.

i thought thats the way LSD worked
when you turn one wheel the other one spin in the opposite direction
i think that only locked diffs will make both wheels spin in the same direction

I was looking at the online workshop manual and it says that both wheels should turn in the same direction.
It says if they turn in opposite directions then replace the VCU.

It does say to Separate the joint on the differential carrier and propeller
shaft before you do the test. What does this mean?

disconnect the prop shaft at the front of the diff. The resistance in the gearbox is not allowing the prop shaft to turn, this is why the other wheel is turning the opposite direction

I jacked the car up at the rear again and as i can't diescnnect the prop shaft, i turned the shaft and both the wheels turned in the same direction.

Does this mean anything?

Also, i did the backlash measurment on my driveshaft and it had about 6 - 7 mm of play and the manual says it shouldnt be more than 5mm.
