Haltech Miniceptor is very cost effective option, with local Sydney support

Haltech Miniceptor will not run 4 channels of ignition. You will need a full aftermarket ECU, as the standard 4G63 ECU only supports twin coils.

Thanks for the useful comment.
It would be a cheaper option, and if it's a manual 3.5L, it'll be better bang for buck, if not quicker than a turbo 4G64... Less mess too.

Nothing wrong with two coils either, cheaper if you do go down that path really. Buy an Adaptronic ;)

Thanks for that, but i'm not looking for cheaper necessarily, different is what i'm after.i allready have a lot of the parts together ready for the install and i'm checking out different options for the ecu i have no experience with aftermarket ecu's so i am trying to do a bit of homework before i purchase 1.

Speak to EZ boy.
AFAIK full aftermarket ECU. Can change wg=hatever you want too. Morristech the brand is. less than $1000 and has boost capabilities.

Dont listen to than lot mate. If you want to turbo your 4G64 go hell for leather. I reckon a wothrwile exercise would be looking to see if the 4G63 head will be a bolt on though. twin cams FTW!!!

good luck with it, i'd say look at other ecu's, this morristech is sounding good also have a look at the autronic smc

i looked at doing this but ended up doing a 3.5 conversion instead, cost $450 in total, but that was me doing all the work, a turbo setup was gonna cost a packet more,

Hear, hear. Couldn't agree more. Doing your own thing is important. If we all went down the route of a 3.5 conversion, this forum would be pretty bloody boring :)

I used to install Microtech a few years ago, they are like Microsoft, they made ok paperweights but that was about it. Try getting one to keep its tune!!

On a budget scale, the Wolf 3d is excellent and then you go your higher end units like haltech etc.

Sorry Mal i think u have your wire's crossed. Its the Wolf's that have trouble keeping their tunes and decide to forget to do things like firing spark or injectors at the right time and blowing up engines....MT's have no problems holding their tune...perhaps it was the person doing the tuning? Having spent alot of time with them and having one in my own car i can say that they are a bit simple and do not have all the features of say a Haltech, they can also be a bit blocky at times in their tuning increments...BUT they do what they do very well.
You say u installed them a few years ago? what models were u installing and on what cars? Back in the days of the MT2 perhaps? They've come a long way since then.

Do I hear a hint of sarcasm here.....

I used to be a distributor for Microtech, you want blown engines, I saw plenty. And yes I installed them, into various turbo and na rotaries as well as a host of 4cyl motors. The last straw for those things was when an FJ20 popped a piston from lean out.

Same car, same fuel system, new motor, car went far better, performed far better on the dyno and went for years

The Wolf, I had one in my RX4 wagon, 13bt, T4, 18psi, never had so much as a hiccup. I set it up, had 2 maps, never had to touch it again. The only time the controller was used was when I started it to punch in the pin number to activeate it.

Yes, the last Microtech was the D5, a black box with screwdriver controls on it. They may have come a long way but then again so has Wolf and many others since then. Once bitten, twice shy
