Spotted a car on CarDomain with one of these.
So went looking for more info.
Found one manufacturer/supplier... they sell direct from the US at a cost of approx. US$200 (+postage)
Anyone seen or heard of a car in Aus. with anything like this?
Thought the pic of the GTO/3000GT engine may stir a few feelings on AMC.
(TUFFTR - Do you have a radiator hose fitted to the DOHC yet?)

To answer that question, he does have a set of blue radiator hoses... But i think you're onto something with this LED thing! Suits that car of his to a T lol

That is freakin cool!!!!!!
Just imagine a few more hoses and LEDs under the hood of a car, then all you would need would be a perspex bonnet and it would look like one of those FULLY H3KT1K MODZ PC's

I assume you'd hook up a door-like switch so they'd only come on when your bonnet's open, would be completely pointless having 'em on with the bonnet closed...
$200 seems a hell of a lot... if there's people willing to pay that much, I might start making parts and selling 'em; anyone up for an LED air intake? (and yes I am capable of actually making suck things...)

I've never seen anything like this is AUS.... You might be onto something big. China will get a hold of the idea eventually and ebay will be littered with LED everthing for your engine bay. probably already is, I just CBF checking

Nothing but the word awesome describes those hoses :bowrofl:
And yeah, paid $80 from the US for upper and lower radiator hoses in silicon, $200 is way out of my league anyway im an apprentice now lol

Thin of it this way.
AS the hoses are clear, you are able to keep a close eye on the coolant flow of your engine. So therefore, it is no longer rice, but a legitimate modification!!

Yeah i make up crap like that too to validate my need lol
Reckon they make cross drilled and slotted versions of the hoses too for more airflow?

The same thing goes with multiple tachos or boost gauges, because sometimes you just need to know what your engine is doing, as many times as possible :)

Its been said that if you cant say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
So I'm not commenting on the questionable asthetics, but this could be quite easily achieved with the use of glass tubing (laboratory supply house could provide it very cheaply in pyrex) heated and bent over a mapp gas flame - or kept straight.
I wouldn't recommend perspex, it would stain and it is a thermoplastic.
Regardless of the materials used, it would require periodic cleaning due to calcium deposits etc. on the glass.
Autospeed had an article on improving cooling efficiency that used a glass sightglass, this was done for practical rather than frivolous reasons.

...Autospeed had an article on improving cooling efficiency that used a glass sightglass, this was done for practical rather than frivolous reasons. That's the way the Killerglass website is promoting it. The LEDs are just an add-on. They also sell a cheaper staright bit of glass tubing for around US$50 I think.

I'd love to be able to see the coolant flowing, along with some nice red coolant to go in there... but somehow I think these would compromise the reliability of the engine and looks, in my opinion, don't justify the risk.
(Translated: someone else try it first. :P)

Oh no, the LED tubing is for my in-car oxygen tank. Ya know, because I'm a grand-pa and everything.....

Hmmmmm yeah that I did not think of. It would be interesting to see exactly how brittle the compound is as plastic/polys can be pretty varied. I presume that if it was road registered it would have had to be deemed 'safe' by the governing body of the state it was in...
