my mate is wrecking his ea and said i can have wat ever i want off of it.

so im going to grab the central locking. i should be able to fit this into the tp right?

when i take it out of his car what do i need to take? obviously the actuators? and obviously any wiring looms inside the door. but wat else outside of the doors will i need?

i wont have a lot of time to grab everything before he takes it to the wreckers thats why im asking.

thanks

Question, why would you bother spending time to fit an inferior system to your car when you go to pick a part or similar and pick up all the actuators and the looms for around $100 bucks.

I did this recently for Josh when I did his TP. Used all the factory actuators, wired it in correctly as if it was factory. Is all smooth and works like it would have if Mits had installed it.

doesn't it need a control box or something? prob easier to get a jaycar kit for 40 comes with all the wiring and actuators.

I thought central locking came on all TPs :S I think my old one (GLX) had it.. and just got mine upgraded to remote locking for FREE!!! that's right free lol...

hmm, dunno, but def juts go with the standard mitsu one I reckon would prob save many problems and you'd surely be able to find more info about it.

i wish they all came with central locking..
mine doesnt:(

because i live in the country where i dont have access to things like pick a part.
why waste money buying a brand new kit only to stuff it up when i can get the central locking from my mate for free :) big woop if i stuff it up then. lol

the only place i can buy a brand new kit here is repco, and they dont no **** about installing this stuff  so i decided to not waste my money.

any help on wat else i may need from the ea will be muchly appreciated:D

Central locking came on the TP SE, elante and elite. You are right about those repco kits ive got one and its a POS the remote broke today.

With fitting the kit from an EA, i think its worth a try but you may run into a few problems.
Generally standard locking actuators will fit into teh standard locks, so you may run into problems fitting them to your TP. You need a whole wiring Loom including the the connections that run between the door and the body. These have a rubber boot that stops water getting into the doors. Again these won;t fit your doors properly so they will leak unless you reseal them somehow. Does the EA you are getting it from have an alarm? The central locking may or maynot be tied into this?

nah no alarm, stock standard. i think ill be able to get the actuators to work.
the hardest part will be the wiring. i want to make sure i get everything i need cos once it goes to the wreckers i cant touch it.

i think the alarm and central locking got tied together in EB - where they went for smartlock in the falcons.

you will prolly be able to do it using EA parts, things i would grab - all wiring, and if you mate is gutting the car out, grab as MUCH as you can, get the actuator rods as well, take everything you can.

if its keyless (which i doubt being EA) then you would also need to take the controll box and lil antena thingy for the signal to be able to get into the car.

you will have to run constant power into your doors as well - so make sure that gets its own fuse for good measure when fitting it up.

if ya can - might be easier as well, try and get the EA door lock barrels themselves as well, and get a EA key copied, coz its all attached there, no need to stuff around to meld EA actuator rods to TP Barrels. might save a couple of headaches

cheers, its not keyless. getting the door locks is getting a bit too complicated for the time frame ill have.

is there a control box i need to take? or is it simply just activated by the key turning or locks being pushed.

i will give the doors their own power sorce and fuse, not sure where thats coming from yet though.

The actuators are very different, I have an EB and the power actuators will not without big modification fit into the TP

Why do you not ask a member here if they can pop a set out for you when you go to pick a part sometime. It is not a real big job and I can also make up a wiring diagram for you as you will need actuators, contol relay (located behind battery) and control unit (located up under dash on drivers side)

When I did Josh's, I moved the contorl relay insude the car and mounted it to the control unit, was a very easy fit, ran all wiring down the car, crossed it over the the pass side under the front seats where the wiring goes to the console etc.

The great thing with using genuine parts, all the holes are there, the actuators all bolt straight in, is so damn easy

ok thanks for your input madmagna. a wiring diagram would be great if its not too much hassle. it would help me understand how the system works and whether or not i feel its worth the hassle.

or if somebody could scan a diagram that might be easier.:D

ill definately be checking out the actuators now to see if i can mod them to fit. if i do decide to grab the kit, will the control relay and control unit be found in the same place in the ea?

where abouts does the factory actuator mount in the tp?
