Mine's at 120, just to remind me before the fines/points get into the too much category. I normally do the 10% over in any zone over 80.

I have mine set to off no point in having it on around town but if im doing freeway driving i have it set to around 120 ish

there wasnt an option box for mine!
so i chose the closest one to it...
i have mine set to something useful... its on 140 roughly....
i occasionally have it go off at me as well *looks innocent*

Mine is simply set and left at 105

110 :) ... Red P's :|
Then it should be set to 90 as thats the legal speed you can do

Hate it with a passion, so it stays off.
My speedo was out when I first got the car and now that has been fixed I'd rather keep an eye on my speed than have an artificial device interrupt my daydreaming/music/conversation.lol

I am always setting mine to the speed limit....it has saved me going through speed cameras a couple of times...phew.

Me three, even though the speedo is wrong. I just use the sat nav GPS speedo as it's more accurate.

pfft stupid nsw with there speed limited licensing schemes..... causes more risk doing 80/90 kph when most of the other traffic is doing 110 on single lane hwy. I tried doing 80kph on my learners for a while but the sight of B doubles constantly at my rear bar somehow convinced me to do the proper speed limit :shhhh:
Oh and I usually have mine set to 105 but had to move it to 115 when i was on the Hume recently
Mine is set to 110kmh, that way i know im speeding when it beeps in a 40 zone :P

I always thought it was for measuring 0-100 using a video camera?

^ Awesome idea, cheers.
Mine's set to 65, as pretty much all my driving is in 60 zones... thank you, gay Adelaide suburbs.
I don't even have one :(
I've been in Nemesis's car a bit and he always has his set to 60. Sounds annoying at first to have it that low, but its actually pretty practical, the most likely zone to get a fine in is 60 I'd say (seems to be what most of the streets are where the cameras are) and it only beeps the once. I wish I had one.
Can you retro fit them into cars that don't have em? Ie. Complicated to wire up?
Xi KF's had Clock and Speed Alert didn't they?

i have mine set to 80km/h
cos when i travel to uni i encounter three speed cameras in the tunnels. that are 80 speed limit.
so yes i use it, but i dont ever change it.

Except mine doesnt actually beep until 5 kays after the setting ie; it wouldnt beep until 105km/h Is that normal

I usually have mine set at 120. Don't want to hear it all the time.
Most of my driving is on a 110 freeway and Tom does most of the freeway driving anyway.

mine is off.. personally i think its annoying.. if im on the highway, i use the cruise control anyway.. and if in any other zone.. i watch my speedo.. dont need the car telling me to slow down..

Mine is usually set to 95 seeing as that is the absolute fastest i should be doing on my way to work
For freeway driving i usually turn it off, as most people have said why use it when cruise is on?
Have got mine set to 195 cause it's annoying. Another annoying thing is that it resets to 60 when you lose traction, does anyone else get this? :P

used to be set to 120, the beep still goes off in my head when i drive another car.

Mine is off, I drive in mainly 60 or 50 zones so if i sit on/around that speed I (my license) should be safe and my music is that loud I probably wouldnt hear the beep anyway :D. I stick to the speed limits fairly well anyway.
Mums old TF exec had one in it too, it was really anoying, we couldnt figure out how to turn it off so she set it to 155k's i think that was the highest it could go. lol

I tend to vary mine, generally it sits at 105, as 100 is the fastest I am allowed to drive, if the road speed allows, obviously. Every now and then I experiment with it, but given I drive through 3 different speed zones, from 50 - 60 - 70 and sometimes even 80 on the way to and from work every day, I mostly leave it at the highway setting.

I keep it set to 110km/h, unless I'm in a 110km/h zone, in which I set it to 120km/h. So it only really comes in handy when my speed creeps up on me on the highway/motorway.

i keep mine set to a nice 85 coz the areas i mainly drive in are 80 zones...

By complete coincidence, my stepmum and I were talking about what speed she should set the speed alert on her new Falcon lol
She decided 110 since if it was set to 50-60, it would go off repeatedly to the point where she wouldn't even notice it, defeating the purpose lol

Another annoying thing is that it resets to 60 when you lose traction, does anyone else get this? :Plol, no? The computer wouldn't know if you'd lost traction. Is amusing to hear an angry beep and orange light accompanying the scream of 80km/h at 5000rpm in 2nd in the wet when hardly moving though.

I beat you all, mine isn't even working... needs to be reset :)
did have it at 110 when it was working, the luxury wore off real quick though!

120 and never changed. Car gets there quick enough as it is.
Also the GPS 110km/h is only slightly lower (dash is out by a few kms)

Mine is normally set to about 120 or 130, with Cruise it's hardly required.
eaglerock18
31-07-2008, 10:29 AM
No cruise here- so for me it alld epends on where and when i'm driving. If it's school holidays, then it's set to the speed limit. If i'm on long distance on remote roads it's set to generally 15km above the speed limit. Around town is pointless in Mt Isa, you're never in the car for more than 5 minutes. Also, the road outside of Isa don't let me travel any faster than around 100 anyways for fear of ripping off my front bar!

Not a mitsu, but dads calais has this. I hate the frigging thing. what's the point of it? It tells you you're over the limit, but doesnt do anthing about it. until they make a speed alert that actually stops you from speeding, I wont use it.

I used it once.... when I first bought the car and thought..."What a great idea"!!
It went off in an 80 zone and I **** myself so bad I thought I had a fighter jet behind me and locked on to me ready to fire a missile up my clacker??
Yeah I day-dream a lot....
* embarrassed look * I didn't expect it to be that loud and that type of noise.
Also scared the **** outa me when the battery was disconnected (I think it defaults to 60) and again the noise is terrible....made me jump.
Be nice if it had a female's voice in Sexy mode, gently telling you you're speeding above the preset amount.... Hmmmmmmm.......
It's off now....

Mine is set to 60. Sydney is riddled with revenue cameras.

I have mine set at 60 after being snapped 3 times in two days by speed cameras. Not sure if it's just me but I have found more than any other car that the Magna feels like your going 20km/h but when you look at the speedo your doing 80 in a 60 zone. Even when I sit there on 60 it just feels like your going along so painfully slow compared to other cars i've been in where it feels like your screaming down a highway when your only doing 60 on local roads.

Never used to but since I got done speeding and almost lost the licence overtaking a truck I have it set at 110 all the time and if on freeway is set at 120.

Well mine is borderline useless as it beeps when I'm way over the limit already according to my GPS speed readout. It's set at 140 so I don't have to hear it.:noway:

I've gotten pretty good at spotting the cameras over the years.
Dont know about other states but in SA when you see a stock late model commondore on the side of the road slow down.
Mind you you still need to know what the speed limit is wherever you are.
//Just paid $196 for doing 61 in a 50 zone :rant:
/ hates unmarker 50 zones
I have a great use for mine, if I am taking the back way home down 20k's of nice dirt I don't take my eyes off the road, and even though theres no radars, I need to look out for skippy's. 20k's in 10 minutes is an eye opener through the bush!

That used to be the case in QLD, but I was pulled over by a late model BMW, and a mate of mine watched a drug bust where they used a hummer to block the driveway. QLD Police are obviously using all sorts of different vehicles these days to catch speeders so it's much harder to spot them on the side of the road.

they are called "mules''
i know on the gold goast, they have a red subi liberty that runs up and down the Pac Highway pulling people over, and its very standard looking - until the red and blue lights come on.!!!
