Why hasn't this been done.
I know of course if be alot of mucking around with engine mounts and so forth but why hasn't it been done.
Did a quick search and couldn't find anything.

Yeah from what i've read, biggest problem is making the awd gear box 2wd only.

Waste of money.
They are not that powerful, and they are certainly not HEAPS torquy...
Only 206KW @ 5500RPM & 363nm @ 4000RPM.
Just stick with the 6G74 & 75 and supercharge them...Simple, done...
If you REALLY wanted an engine conversion, try a 6G75 bottomend with forged pistons & Rods with a 6G74 Head, then strap on a sprintex/raptor supercharger.
Much better at producing torque and power...Would sound hot too!

yeah that white verada wagon had it in there and the 5spd tippy out of a legnum aswell, from what i read it was a fair bit of effort but the most problems were in the gearbox. mustve had fun with diffs.
yeah you could just put a 6g74/5 SC in there but a TT 6cyl has much better appeall!. its just maintaing it would be fun as it seems that lad was finding out. and alot of transplantees

Just run a Manual Magna FWD box. While the stock specs of the 2.5 TT aren't all that great, simple upgrade of the exhaust, fuel system and front mount will allow for some decent boost, I'm sure 200kW at the wheels will be very easy with more to offer with larger turbos.

would a box out of an FTO fit that motor??

think most fto gear box's were on the right weren't they?

dunno, but the motor is out of a legnum. Get an awd magna, manual box and tt froma legnum and you would be on your way!.

Yeah an FTO box fits that motor with no issue, just need a custom pressure plate made up from exedy, but all the engine mounts are completely different, i was looking at doing this but you really wouldnt get much if any change out of 10k even if you did the bulk of the labour yourself, engineers are damn expensive

Is there a reason that noone has tried this. To be honest, this idea was something that originally got me thinking, but then I realised that it would be cheaper to buy a VR4 up front than to buy an AWD magna, and then all the bits to convert it to manual using VR4 gear, and pay for fitting / customizing / etc... That's the only reason I can think of, but ultimately, I decided that buying a local car was better for me at the moment than an imported twin turbo offering (no matter how much fun it may have been).
Although, I'd guess that something like the prop shaft not lining up or something like that would be the reason (open to being proven wrong).

Thread Mine!
But yeah i was considering doing this, hell even had a FTO box sitting in the Garage, but once i did the numbers the $ per power just wasnt worth the effort and the fact that i wouldnt have the car for a couple of months.

Thread Mine!
Hey.. It was barely a month old...
And I could've started a new thread on it, and had everyone complain to use the search box... So, you loose either way don't you....

A Bit tangential but most people assume things don't fit that they can't really say. Apparently a MIVEC 3rd gen 3L form a diamante or something just had the orientation reversed and it all bolted up in a 3000gt. Hasn't started yet though i think there might be problems in regards to flywheel/gearbox rotational orientation at best.
Ie its not until someone checks that the gbox won't bolt up that we can be sure. Unfortunate that no one has a 6a13 out for a rebuild that i know of.

100% positive it doesnt fit, the Input shaft is offset upward by 9.2mm, so a complete new casing would be required to get it to align itself, and the casing wont bolt up due to it being too small and the clutch cover hits up against it. This info is from 3si.org and from measurement of the 2.

For which combo?

For which combo?
mating the 6A to a standard 3.5l Magna Manual Box, The Fto box matches right up, just needs a custom clutch cover made up (just touches the inside of the casing) And the FTO box bolts straight into the magna chassis, just needs custom mounts (original ones are too short). And the halfshafts need a CNC 1mm off and they slide straight in. Linkages all match up without a fuss.

so by the sounds of things a 6A with an FTO will fit in a magna with minimal effort

Yeah they will, just a bit of clearance issues with the rear exhaust Manifold & turbo with the firewall, Tbutcher did the conversion and said that there is about 10mm clearance between the Hotside and the firewall.

And you still have a Magna at the end of the day. Cheaper, simpler, faster, safer, better looking outcome if you just buy a Galant/Legnum.

Was this aimed at me, and if so, exactly what I thought, but it would be a way of having a unique magna. AWD, manual, twin turbo. Which I have to admit would be cool, but waste of money beyond being unique.
If not aimed at me, ignore me.

Oh, right, we're talking AWD and manual too then. There's a point to that yes.
Not many 3000GT/GTOs around - I'd prefer one for exclusivity.
Like being emo. You're unique, like the rest of the tards who are unique, just like you.
