Hey There fellow Magna Owners...
I had the drivers door trim off yesterday 'cause I had a small rattle when closing the door...
I felt around in the bottom of the door and found this??? (See pic)
I can't find where it came from... indeed... I don't even know if it came from the internals of the car... but everything works... power door locks, power windows, mirror, internal and external door handles etc....
So anyone know WTF it is??
PS: I looked in the service manual but still can't find squat....

you say it was inside the door panel just sitting there? have you checked to see if the power window brackets are missing any screws? have you installed aftermarket speakers or does it have aftermarket speakers? maybe it was left behind by the previous owner

it was sitting right inside the door... basically between the outer skin and frame...at the very bottom.
Checked everything carefully... took the plastic splash guard off (The glad wrap stuff) to look around but didn't see anything out of place.....everything works as per normal??
Stock speakers only.
It's been there since I got it in october last year as the rattle went immediately once I took it out....

Oh and another thing, I very much doubt the door trims have ever been off... since new...
Maybe a worker at Mitso dropped a bit of tooling in the door whilst it was being assembled???
Just guessing here...

Thats possible, I remember pulling the door skins out of my car and finding 2 random body coloured bolts in the bottom of the door that had been there all the cars life.

From the looks of it... it's a piece of plastic, with a spring wrapped around it. Just a guess though. lol
Seriously though, it looks like nothing i've seen in a car before. I'd betting it would have been dropped in there during assembly, considering all other parts are working fine.

no idea what that is... I have had my doors completely apart this week (2003 TJII with power windows) and didn't see anything that even resembles that.
my only suggestion is to take the other door apart and see if there's another one in there somewhere.
cheers,

mabey the previous owner stuck it there when he sold it, just to piss you off, ive herd of ppl doing that, like shoving random things, that make a rattle, i once herd of a guy finding a note burried in the car, with some random object making a rattle, saying something like "you found me!"

There are plenty of random notes like that hanging around my old high school in roofs/air conditioning ducts/under buildings etc....

Thats a part of your power window mechanism, i know this because i had to rewind one of my mech's a few weeks ago when the cable came off the roller and that is one of the parts on the end of the cable (spring bit) and the other bit is the guide for the cable to run through.
You say your windows work now but give them a few weeks and they will either start to have a delay from when you press the button to when they start moving of they will stop working all together, usually when half way down.
you're probably better off leaving your windows up until you have replacements ready to go in. if i still have some parts laying around at home then i'll take some pics for you to see.

it is too... don't mind my earlier post, I'm retarded!
the spring bit goes around the cable, so I can't see how it would have come off without it or the cable being broken.

Thanks for the help guys... much appreciated.....!!
Hmmm thinking that the noise has been there since I got it in October last year and the fact that the window still works perfect....
My guess after you identified it, is that maybe... just maybe the previous owner might of had a power window winder thingy replaced under warranty?? the guys that fixed it didn't pick up the remnants from the bottom of the door.....
Seriously it wouldn't work all that well without the part.... and it's pretty dirty from where it's been layiing around...
Thanks again all
Steve
