Today I discovered neither reverse lights are functional. I am though fairly confident they were working last night.

I've checked the bulbs, fuses and relays related so far, can't see a problem as such. It appears looking at the service manual that the tail lights and reverse lights operate on the same relay (tails are still operational.), and the fuses are all fine throughout the car.

Where else can I check, can't really afford an auto-elec at the moment to look at this.

Cheers.

could be the reverse gear position sensor...

ground off the reverse wire to check if its the switch. I'll try and get a wire diagram for ya later on if you haven't got one already

Nemesis did mention that to me. Where do I go to check that out, and would that affect the cluster transmission lights telling me I'm in reverse? Because that still functions.

Where's the wire?

Cheers.

it'll be on the gearbox somewhere
should be able to see it from the top of the engine bay
you'll see a wire attached to the gearbox and thats what your looking for

just get a torch and turn it on when your reversing.. simple solution really

red/blue jumped with black/white on the inhibitor switch should turn the reverse lights on.

*first colour is the primary one...so mostly red with blue stripe (just incase you didnt know)

Hey guys, I'm looking at the diagram for the Chassis electrical system, and from my understanding of it (probably not a very good one), it appears that the combination meter is wired in with the inhibitor switch and A/T Ecu, so based on that, if the switch was failing to operate properly, I don't see why the R light would still come on on the cluster, since they're all wired into the same circuit..

I haven't looked at the car yet, I'm not game to fiddle with this stuff, usually things get worse when I try to fix them.

Also check the loom on the bootlid, mine was cable tied to one of the hinges and the cable tie had eventually caused the wires in the loom to break.

Took it to a mate who does that sort of stuff and he found the problem and resoldered the wires in about 5 minutes.

Were your tail lights still all working?

Edit: Fixed, turns out there was a break near the loom in the boot, temp fixed for now, will get it soldered later.

Cheers guys.
