Hey guys got a comparison question for people who are lowered.
Since a certain someone outbid me on the diamante bar on ebay:P, I have decided to spend the money i had for the bar on getting the mag bag sitting lower, i got 2 quotes today, both were around the $500 mark including wheel alignment.
One place is using king springs, the other pedders.
My question is which one should i be leaning towards, Pedders or King Springs i've heard pedders are better? Which spring is commonly lower then the other etc?
The setup will be lows all round.

Stupid question but have you thought about putting them in yourself to save some money?
Springs are only $110 a set

Lovells is lowest, Then kings. I don't know if pedders and kings are the same height, but generally, pedders are so devilishly overpriced. I went into pedders the other day and asked for a lowered setof springs, they quoted me $400-$450 JUST for the springs, whereas autobarn quoted me $300 for full set of kings springs adjusted to the height (actual measurement cms) that I want.

I got quoted $140 a set:shock:
And no i haven't, my mechanical skills go as far as changing the oil lol
Pedders are overpriced and will always find more stuff to fix on your car...i sweari fo you took a brand new car in there they would still have you changing all the rubbers and getting new shocks
i have kings in my car and they are great. good ride hight and handles great. i had Lovells in my GSR and there were good as well, i think at the end of the day its 6 of one, hald a dozen of the other, esspecially for road driving. on the track you might be able to find a few differences but for day to day driving, thay are all the same. and i payed $600 of new springs and shocks all round so $500 for the springs is a bit steep IMO

Pedders are rubbish, they are soft, bad spring rate and will sag like buggers in no time at all
There was a time when I would use nothing but pedders but these days would not touch them at all
Kings are great, Lovell are a little over sprung in my opinion but still good.
On an older car, if you are changing springs, do dampers as well or you will end up with a clunky suspension that leaks.
I spent about $700 all up with lovell s/low and lows as well as KYB excel's and I did it myself, first time ever and it realistically took about 8 hours - only because I didn't have the best tools (or jacks) but at least I had stands!!
All you need is some spring compressors ($20) car stands (borrow from someone) and some open-enders/socket and a good ratchet say, 1/2 drive. If I did it again now that I have a trolley jack and better tooks I'd say it'd take a couple hours, 4 maximum.
One big piece of advice for DYI'ers is take a note of where the strut top is sitting when you take it out (mark a dot with a nikko on the top say towards the headlights) otherwise you'll do what i did and put the strut in the wrong way and it clunks and is NO good! (Hence why it took me so long the first time, pulling it out - apart and together before I realised my stupid mistake).

Changing the rear springs on a 2nd Gen wagon is very easy. All you have to do it jack it up, remove the wheel, remove the nut that retains the shock absorber at the bottom, pull the shock absorber off and let it hang, then push the control arm down far enough until the spring unseats. Lift it out and replace it.
Personally I'd go for King Springs - I had these in my 2nd Gen, and in my current car (3rd Gen).
