Hi
I want an AWD Verada wagon, but they don't seem to exist, is this right?
How hard would it be to customise up a standard AWD wagon to verada levels? I'm particularly interested in making sure the suspension, noise etc is better
thanks

Sorry buddy but their aint no such thing as an AWD wagoon. And the costs of doing it would be hideously expensive. If RWD is vital to you look at getting a BA wagon or similar.

As far as i know Type40 is right about that, bringing a normal Magna to Verada standards depends where you start i suppose? what model of magna were talking about, although i dont see it being cheap correct me if im wrong

thanks all, I was sure I had seen a ref to an AWD magna wagon, but obviously wrong.
thanks for the suggestions of alternatives re liberty etc, but I wanted something a bit bigger. I think the legnum is also smaller than the magna isnt it?

I think the legnum is also smaller than the magna isnt it?Not exactly sure, but I was under the impression that they are of a fairly similar size? Dunno what the boot size difference would be though, which I guess is what you are after?

Sorry that's a long post but what a comparison......hmmmm AWD Twin Turbo.
I nearly bought one but just couldn't find the right one then my Chaser came along.
Still I might end up getting one as the Chaser boot space is woeful. Compared to my old TH:shock:

Mitsubishi Legnum and Nissan Stagea are 2 alternatives. Both are good sized wagons. The Legnum is pretty much the same size as the Magna wagon. It may be a tad smaller but not much.
I prefer the Legnum over the Stagea, but spare parts for the Stagea are more readily available.

Of course there is always this altenative EVO Wagon.......

The legnum is a tight fit but feels like a glove especially if you can get the spec edition with Recaros.

Audi allroad, is a 2.7t, goes like the clappers, awsome to drive and looks the part. Whats more you have the experience of a car company who have made AWD's for eons

stagea ftw
Stageas look ugly IMO, are heavy and drink premium fuel like a fish - in a drought.
WRX Wagons look sweet... I want one everytime I pass one.

Agree, brother in law sold his Series 2 Stagea for that reason. Was very thirsty.

But not what this guy is looking for... they have a smaller boot than my magna

LOL Both Nissan (Stagea) and Mitsi (Evo) have had years and years of experience with the AWD system. And both of their setups have VERY good reputations.
And the Audi allroad is a significant jump in price... Like over 15k more.

Fit a good set of tyres and don't drive like a twit. Any Verada will be as good in normal speed limits as an All Wheel Drive.

thanks again all.
the stagea does look a bit bloated, and while the Legnum has awd I'm abit worried about longevity and parts, so maybe it will be the verada wagon (plus sunroof).

Get a rear-ended AWD and make it into a Magna-Brumby!

Oops - I missed that post
How about the Mitsubishi RVR - AWD Van with an EVO engine and drivetrain - sunroof, can fold the back seats down to make a bed ;)
Getting a bit old, but very cheap and spare parts readily available (Evo and Nimbus). The newer RVRs are not being imported yet - hopefully they will be someday!
it wouldn't be that hard to do. The engine, gearbox and transfer case from the awd would be a direct transplant to the wagon. Then you just need to transplant the rear diff assembly, a longer rear drive shaft and maybe a little bit of cutting for a tailshaft tunnel. It could be done for less than $30,000 which would include the cost of the two donor cars.

err from what I understand, the whole floor plan of the FWD and AWD is quite different. So the transmission, rear diff etc and going to take a hell of a lot of pain to get in if possible at all! I stand to be corrected though.
floorpans are completely different, it would be easier to drop a wagon shell onto the floorpan
