I can get a set of leather seats for a 380 pretty cheap, there's one big problem though. The side seat airbags in the fronts have been deployed. I have the bags from my original seats.
The rear ones are ok and he wants 220, but the fronts are worthless to him.

Can they be swapped out?

Any legal concerns?

And if it can be done, can I do it myself?

How hard is it?

yes they can be swapped over mate [but personally i would ring mitsu about removing them cause if they go off while removing them you will be stuck ]
i am not sure about the 380 ones as some airbags are different to remove, but i am positive you have to remove the trim to get the airbag out .[thats what ya have to do with the honda s2000 i just did one yesterday]

and as long as the airbags have the check sticker on them[from mitsu like a barcode] you will have no probs from the boys in blue or friom your insurance company

disconnect the battery, they wont go off then.
your alloud to add air bags to a car, but not remove them from a car that has them standard, IE downgrading the safty of the car!!
but if your dodgy who would know?' "cop pulls you over, mate im just checking if your magna has had its seat air bag removed"
seriously the other day i got pulled over, and the cop checked my rear tires?????? to see if i had been doin burnouts?

the trim doesn't need to come out, just the back of the seat map holder piece. theres 1 bolt holding the side airbag in. its then just a matter or routing the cable through. i did it on mine when i changed to leather.

There was a discussion on that a few weeks ago, I reckon it's bogus :P I can't see how a tiny bit of static electricity has enought charge to set off the little explosion inside the bag.
