i airbrushed a design on a wreckers manual console as you know for a tr ts (found several of them already out of a magna at a wreckers)
and i dont know why but the gear surround bit was different and did not fit in my ts!?!?.
It was different in that it was flat with no curve in the centre, ( which i realised when i compaired it to my original centre console piece) and had three clips on the end rather than two.
Initially i thought i must have ended up with a console out of a wagon or something, and thats why it was different, but then i saw someone selling a console out of a wagon on here (the ks verada woodgrain one) and it also has the cruve in it? So whats going on... or is it different in the verada models???

the one i had airbrushed was a flatter gear surround, so i am very confused.
They are both so similar yet that little bit of difference depends on whether it fits ot not. If anyone can shed some light, it would be helpful...

p.s i know that the shape where the gear knob is different for a manual and an auto... but this is not the issue. I want to sell it on ebay but dont want to specify the wrong car.

TR Is flat
TS is curved

(Well unless you got a TR SE I think which came out with the TS console but its curved up because it has the armrest which has a deeper bucket)

Comprehende? :P

Console with lid and deep bucket are all the same for TR/S These primarily cam on SE, Elite, Verada EI + XI

GLX and Executive had the flatter console with no arm rest, while some Exec TS's had the flat type, most TS had the arm rest style

hmm so if i list this on ebay what should i say it fits... this is confusing. i guess just say its the flatter console that fits on the GLX and some executives? well that limits the market :(.

Say it fits anything with the console with the lid.
Will not fit any model of 2nd gen magna (TR/TS/KR/KS) with a flat centre console

Just do the opposite of what Tuffy says, that usually works
In summary; Flat is for those without the console lids (ie mostly TR), curved is for those with the lids (mostly TS/KS).

I too discovered this a while ago, luckily I noticed before I got out of the wrecker's. There was only one manual wreck out of probably 20 2nd gens (!), an it had the bloody flat panel, in the end I just painted my original one (was painting spare bits in case I stuffed up).
