Hey guys,

Just curious here, how much should I be expecting to pay to replace my brakes all round. I'm sitting on 30% all-round so going to need to replace them soon. Estimate price on Bendix Ultimate all-round with labor?

Cheers,
Dean

Get the brakes out of a 380/TJ-TL AWD/Ralliart/Evo 4 if you can. Stock 3rd gen gear is inadequate on decent tyres... you'll appreciate it when you get bigger rims.

Yeah somhow I dont think he wants to spend $800 on a new brake setup.

Pads should set you back anywhere from $50-$140 for various types.
I've heard great things about QFM Pads which is why I nabbed a set.

Rotors should be give or take around the $80 mark each for standards But try and get yours machined. Get your brake fluid Flushed aswell while your doing it

Pretty sure people have picked them up for way less than that.

I think he's talking about Brake Pads and which brands will be suitable/affordable

Nah mate, when he wanted to know the cost on brake pads he actually has $2000+ to spend on a brembo upgrade

Edit* When you factor in calipers, rotors, pads, and lines, it can get VERY pricey + People always say, well mightaswell go slotteds, well mightaswell go slotted and cross drilled, mightaswell get carbon fibre hyper awesome chrome surrounded brake lines too so what usually seems like a cheap venture is usually a very expensive one

The brakes are only inadequate for those who do not know how to drive!!!! I have been on cruises where people are melting rotors when the only smoke coming from my car were the tyres!

You want crap brakes for a heavy car, try an "E" series ford!

Yes they can be greatly improved, but the std brakes are not that bad. I personally hate Ultimate pads, they are hard, dirty and noisy.

My KR had the twin pots from the KS on it, bendix 4x4 pads on slotted rotors. Prior to that I had the Lucas pads, these were damn awsome, no matter how hot worked well but again were extremely dirty and squeeled like cut pigs when cold

I should probably look at a master cylinder brace then. I've got no idea what pads mine has though.

Ya, my bad I ment pads I thought it when I was typing it, just forgot to type it :P Only just paid off the repair bill from the oil leaks, so I'd like to stay debt free :)

I had new pads put on my Verada shortly after I bought it, they fitted Bendix General GT PA 26 (I'm reading off the receipt :P) and have been very happy with them. Car pulls up well, and haven't had any squealing or anything.

They were $60 a pair.

I bought rotors and pads from RDA in Hallam for $130 all up via Ebay. I'm happy enough with what I have.

Decent pads can go for up to $160 a pair for off the shelf items from SuperCheap, etc; or around $40-$60 for standard items. Changing pads only takes about half an hour all around, maybe $50-$60 labour?

Fluid can be up to $45 for 500ml  for genuine fluid (Dot 3), but you should be able to get Dot 4 cheaper elsewhere for around $10-$20 a bottle, and you'd really only need one [bottle]. A flush doesn't take long, maybe 30 minutes? Another $50-$60 in labour. If you have ABS, they'll also have to leave your car runing while they do it, so there'll be a smidgen of petrol spent there.

Discs depend greatly on the type, but crappy standard replacements can be $100 a pair, or around $116 each for slotted fronts (last time I checked at SuperCheap), and a little les for rears. Doubt they'd hit you up for fitment on discs really, maybe $20 all round, as the caliper is practically already off.

I'd say allow yourself $500 for new pads/discs front and rear, brake fluid, flush, and labour.

Bendix ultimates FTW. Best street pad I have found. Bites really good on the street, resists fade.

Downsides are they produce alot of dust, and, can squeak at low speeds.

For those who have used them and didnt like them, did you bed them in correctly ? Did you machine the rotors when the pads went in ?
