Lot of people might already know this but I thought I would share my experience with my notchy gearbox and shuddering clutch.
I've had my car for about a year, the previous owner had the gearbox reco'd about 2-3 years ago but the way the clutch was engaging was a real pain in the ass.
It would be really touchy and it would either want to stall or loose traction (at the wheels) when I toke off at the lights.
I figured this was normal because my last magna to a certain extent did the same thing.
Recently the gearbox started to feel notchy and rarely when the engine/gearbox was cold it even crunched second gear, so I decided to take the clutch master cylinder out and clean the piston. The rubber looked fine, the inside of the cylinder was smooth and the spring felt ok.
This kind of fixed the problem but I think it was more of a placebo then anything and the next morning it would feel the same.
I found out that it was only $130 to purchase a new PBR clutch master cylinder from autopro, so hoping for the best I changed the whole cylinder unit.
The clutch now feels 100% better, it doesn't engage in different spots everytime and the pressure is very even and positive.
As for the gearbox it feels like it has actually been reco'd and it just pops into gear without much effort.
I just hope I havn't already damaged the gearbox, I'll see how it shifts tomorrow morning.
Anyway the point is that if you are having similar problems and you hav'nt already replaced your clutch master cylinder unit with a NEW one then seriously consider doing it.
