Well after a couple of years of good use from my Soundstream Exact 12" Sub, it was finally time to upgrade.
So the new weapon of choice, was a unit that was the best value for money for me ;)
The JVC CS-DX120
RRP: $439
700W RMS
2000W Max
4Ω Dual-Input Voice Coil
Here's some comparison pics of Old vs New

I need to buy some new cabling, etc. will let you know how different the sound is tomorrow afternoon when i insall it:)
Edit: Just tried tp put it in my current sub box, and it wont fit, haha. Now i've got to make the hole wider as well.
I wouldn't think it'd fit. What about making a tuned box to such a valuable sub? It'd be worth the effort.

Nick, soon you'll learn to realise how lazy I am when it comes to things I don't get paid for :P
My current sub box isn't a prefab, it was designed for the Exact sub, so it's still actually quite large and quite solid. Although both Subs are 12" the JVC has a much wider body on it, so i just need to trim off around the hole and it will fit.
I'll see how it sounds and then make the call if I need to invest in a new box..

Shiz yeah, that comes across pretty easily man! Make a tuned box for the sucker, otherwise it's a bloody waste in my opinion, and my opinion is worth more than GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD

Hasnt the price of gold tumbled lately.. :bowrofl:
But yeah Nick is right, just because they are the same size, doesn't mean they will sound similar in the same size box. If you want to use the same box and want it smaller, just fill it with a phone book or the like. If you need to make it bigger ( within reason ) fill it with darcon. If you consult the manual from JVC, you can compare recommended box sizes.
I personally would not have gone for something like that but as long as your happy let us know how it goes :D

If the box is too small invert it and swap phase as well. Saves having to change the hole size too

Ohh we've got some attention on you now!
What size is the prefab, tuned to what and what space did the old sub take vs the new.

Yeah Righty, if you don't mind... how big is your box that takes the 12inch :P
Have you checked the EBP from the T/S to get an idea if it will sound better in a sealed or ported box? Wow I should stop drinking...
