i was going to mention the ports being labelled the wrong way.
the inlet port would have the little indent at the top for the injector spray pattern path
love 4v heads but

Just a quick question... Is there anyway of telling a Ralliart engine by the engine number only? Maybe they were built in a certain sequence?

I was expecting them to be very different to the standard 3.5L head.
from what I can see, they look very similar to my heads which I saw on Friday.
of course, a side-by-side comparison would show up any significant differences.
so what's the plan, Schnell?

I think in the vin number i beliver, a section of it will read something like eg tl magna. #####TLV45### etc
I believe the V45 will be different for a ralliart motor..
Don't quote me on this, just what i've been told.

There is bugger all work done to the heads, just unshrouding the valves - there is a lot of room for improvement.

I believe the difference between a TJ Ralliart and TJ Advance VIN is
6MMTJ1R42*********
6MMTJ8A42*********

Yup, agree with wookiee...
The VIN has something like 6MMTJ1R... or 6MMTJ2R...
TJ for the model TJ
1 for a Manual or 2 for an Auto
R for a Ralliart.
here's a good VIN# post... http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showpost.php?p=641778&postcount=6
But that's the VIN - was Type40 (and maybe hy_boi) asking for the Engine No or the VIN ?

as said above the only way to tell its a ralliart motor is by the vin numbers on the cars. The ralliart motors were put on randomly thru out there build as they were required.

I was specifically wondering about the engine number myself! But the body number may have its uses in the future...

Fit the heads and cams (plus valve springs) as-is. At the same time vernier cam gears and an FPR will go on set to 42psi. Will also retune the Haltech. Oh, and red powder coated rocker covers will go on too. When I go to the UK at the end of the year to see my son he will have Cosworth rods and 10:1 pistons for me (helps knowing someone inside F1 :) ). At that point we'll have another look at the heads to see what else needs doing.

I'm very interested in the rods you're looking at. the big journal is something like 58mm which appears to be an uncommon size. all I could find were custom rods (at something like $1500+). that's why I did a bunch of work on the stock rods.
unless you're going to change the crank as well?
cheers,

what were the Cosworth rods originally destined for?

Ah, see you've both ratted me out. These babies are going to be custom made just for me :)
whoa thats pretty cool. I presumed that because you mentioned Cosworth, that that might have been out of something that had already been fettled with from the factory. Many UK Fords were fettled with by Cosworth from the factory
