you may have to run a wire to your stereo for when it turns on

i meant the tf doesnt seem to have the wiring to power it?
On my TF (Exec), the wiring doesn't seem to be there. And I've had the rear inside boot apart a few times because of having to replace the boot release cable. I too have the power antenna ready to go and, when I get some time, I'm going to put the wiring in so the radio can power the antenna.

Hi all, I installed a power antenna on my TH which didn't have one.
No the wiring isn't there, you need to run your own.
You need the following:
+12V
GND
Switched power from your radio (most likely a blue wire with a tag that says 'antenna' on it)
the +12V can be sourced from anywhere where it is available... easiest is from the power supply to your amps in the boot if you have them. Otherwise there is the power for your automatic boot release, you will have to find that in the loom and splice into it. Otherwise from your nearest +12V source.
GND is just the closest bit of the chassis you can attach it to. Make sure you remove all paint etc so it has a good contact with the bare metal.
Switched power is as described above. You will need to run a lead from your radio (winds the antenna up when the radio is on). Doesn't need to be thick as its just low level signal to switch a relay type circuit inside the antenna.
Cheers
Peter
I did a power antenna install on my TH exec too.
Run a wire from HU/+12v to the boot, Drill a hole to ground it in the boot area and run a wire
Then run the "trigger" wire from the HU to the power antenna, if you do not have one, use the ACC and wire a switch in order to bring it down.
Sometimes you may not have the clearance to have it up (Like a certain carpark in North Sydney).
It is a faily simple install, I used a basic generic $70 antenna.

i notice people recommending the power antennas from the TL's as they are cheaper. would these fit a TJ wagon or do they have different bases?
